Ca Mau strives to become the largest crab farming center in the Mekong Delta and the whole country.

This is the goal set out in the 2025 crab industry development plan in Ca Mau province, which has just been signed and issued by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Maintain and develop the brand "Crab Nam Can - Ca Mau ".

Specifically, in 2025, Ca Mau province will organize training and transfer to about 1,000 households how to raise crabs according to semi-intensive processes, combine crab farming with improved extensive shrimp farming with supplementary feeding, and provide technical advice to about 4,000 households in the whole province. Propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for 100% of crab farming cooperatives to implement farming conditions and processes according to standards that are of interest to the market.

Building a standard crab farming model. Accordingly, it is expected to implement 62 hectares of combined crab farming models: Sustainable development model of combined crab farming model associated with product consumption linkage 10 hectares; model of safe food crab material area, linkage and product consumption 40 hectares and field training model applying microbial products in combined crab farming with improved extensive black tiger shrimp farming 12 hectares.

Total crab output is about 41,834 tons/year; of which, the combined crab farming area is about 418,340 hectares, with an average yield of 0.1 tons/ha/year. Strive for a semi-intensive crab farming area of about 200 hectares, with an average yield of about 0.5 tons/ha/crop, and an output of about 100 tons; crab farming in boxes is 3,000 boxes, with an output of about 7.0 tons/year.

Establish at least 12 new cooperatives, each cooperative over 100 hectares; 12 chains linked and cooperated with 02 supermarket systems.

The general goal of Ca Mau province is to develop crab farming to become the largest center of the Mekong Delta and the whole country with a suitable production organization model, applying advanced technology to improve productivity, output, quality and competitiveness of Ca Mau crab products; at the same time, adapt to climate change and protect the ecological environment, bring benefits to people, businesses, develop the economy , contribute to GRDP growth of 8.5% or more in 2025, creating a foundation for "double-digit" growth of the province in the period of 2026 - 2030.
