The whole country has 900 more professors and associate professors, a record high number.

(Dan Tri) - The State Council of Professors officially recognized 900 candidates meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor in 2025, including 71 professors and 829 associate professors.

On November 19, the Chairman of the State Council of Professors signed a decision to recognize the qualifications for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025 for 900 candidates according to the previously announced list.

According to the State Council of Professors, in 2025, there will be 1,073 candidates applying, including 100 professor candidates and 973 associate professor candidates, at 117 basic councils.

After rounds of document assessment, foreign language assessment and general scientific report, 1,014 candidates (93 professor candidates, 921 associate professor candidates) were recommended to be considered at the industry and interdisciplinary levels.

28 industry and interdisciplinary professor councils then selected and recommended 911 candidates (73 professors, 838 associate professors) to submit to the State Council of Professors for consideration and recognition.

After reviewing, verifying evidence and publicly discussing each profile, the State Council of Professors conducted a vote with the result that 900 candidates met the title standards.

The youngest professor recognized this year is Associate Professor Dr. Tran Quoc Trung, 39 years old, Deputy Director of Campus II of Foreign Trade University in Ho Chi Minh City.

The two youngest associate professors in the country to be recognized are Dr. Do Quang Loc, lecturer at the Department of Physics, University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Hanoi ) and Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh, senior researcher at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Both candidates were born in 1992.

With 900 candidates meeting the standards of professor and associate professor, this is the year with the highest number of qualified professor and associate professor candidates since 2019 - the time when Decision 37/2018/QD-TTg began to apply, stipulating standards and procedures for considering recognition of qualifications and appointing the titles of professor and associate professor.

In 2024, the whole country will have 614 candidates recognized as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor. In 2020, the number of professors and associate professors recognized was the lowest in this period, with only 339 candidates recognized.

Since 2019, more than 3,600 candidates have been recognized as meeting the standards of professor and associate professor.
