Scot Hollingsworth, 56 years old, living in Daytona Beach, Volusia County, Florida, USA, said he was watching TV with his wife on March 4 when he heard a knock on the door.
" I got up and went to open the door. I was about to turn on the light and almost go out the door when my leg was bitten and shook violently," he said. "It all happened so fast. I was extremely surprised and shocked."

" We often see crocodiles behind our house, it's quite normal, but they always keep their distance from us," he said. "I think I surprised the crocodile as much as it surprised me."
Hollingsworth was bitten on the thigh and had to be hospitalized, but the injury was minor and he is expected to recover quickly.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found the 9-foot alligator and gave it the death sentence.
Florida is home to about 1.3 million alligators, who frequently come into contact with humans as they expand their range into the state’s wetlands and waterways. However, alligator attacks rarely cause injury to humans. Last month, an 85-year-old woman walking her dog died after being dragged into a lake in southeast Florida by an alligator while trying to protect her pet.
