The Ministry of Health recommends that hospitals proactively stockpile drugs to treat dengue fever patients.

According to the Ministry of Health, Dextran is a high molecular solution used to treat shock in patients with severe dengue fever. To date, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has licensed applications for importing Dextran infusion solutions that have not been registered for circulation according to current regulations, to meet the special treatment needs of medical facilities. The total number of licensed imports is 17,010 bags.

According to the importer's report, the actual quantity of imported drugs is currently 12,550 bags, of which the quantity of drugs supplied to hospitals is 5,118 bags, the quantity of drugs remaining in the importer's warehouse is 7,432 bags. Thus, the Vietnamese market currently has a supply of Dextran infusion solution and the core factor determining the supply of drugs is that the units proactively place orders in advance with importing enterprises.

Regarding the development of dengue fever, by the end of August, the whole country recorded more than 66,380 cases, including 14 deaths. The deaths were all recorded in the Southern, Central and Central Highlands regions.
