Vietnamese football clubs move closer to professionalism

On the morning of October 8, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the opening ceremony of the Professional Football Club Licensing Workshop 2025 took place.

Attending the workshop were leaders of VFF, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), representatives of the licensing administrative agency of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), representatives of VFF functional departments and representatives of professional clubs.

At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of VFF, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF - said that over the past 10 years, the licensing work has been fully implemented by VFF and complied with the principles of FIFA and AFC, in accordance with the Vietnamese legal system and the VFF charter. At the same time, it has promoted the development and improved the quality of clubs participating in professional tournaments in Vietnam.

Some of the achievements are upgraded stadiums, focused youth training, transparency in governance to have a foundation for football development, creating a premise to advance to the region. However, in the context of AFC raising standards, VFF will need to continue to coordinate with clubs to continue to meet the requirements and overcome the challenges.

Meanwhile, Mr. Doojin Sa, Head of AFC Professional Football Department, shared: "This workshop is an opportunity for delegates to acquire knowledge as well as share opinions and feedback to further improve the licensing process. I hope that all of you will participate in the discussion actively and with high concentration. We expect the Vietnamese Club to seize this opportunity and perform strongly in the continental arena."

The Seminar program includes the following contents: Overview of club licensing in Vietnam; update on the regulations for participating in AFC club tournaments. In-depth discussion on licensing criteria groups including finance, facilities, sports , administrative and legal human resources; and the topic of youth football development.

The workshop also spent time discussing and summarizing, aiming to improve management capacity, standardize club operations and increase professionalism and transparency in the Vietnamese football system.
