Press agencies increase propaganda for the Contest "Join hands for traffic safety"

The contest is organized by the National Traffic Safety Committee in coordination with the Communist Party of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Vietnam Insurance Association (Motor Vehicle Insurance Fund).

Continuing the success of the past 4 years (from 2020 to 2023), the 2024 "Joining hands for traffic safety" contest is organized to strengthen propaganda, dissemination, and legaleducation , improve knowledge and awareness of law enforcement on traffic safety and order for all people, especially the young generation, workers, and laborers; contribute to building a culture of behavior when participating in traffic, equipping people with knowledge and skills to safely control vehicles.

The content of the contest focuses on the following topics: Party guidelines, State policies and laws on traffic safety and order; knowledge and skills in handling situations to participate in traffic safely; cultural behaviors when participating in traffic; things to know in newly issued laws such as the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, Road Law, etc.

The contest is organized in the form of weekly quizzes on the Communist Party of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper, VCNet social network and electronic newspapers/magazines, websites/electronic information portals of agencies, units, and localities with links to the Contest (atgt.dangcongsan.vn).

Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department said that after more than 10 years of implementing Directive No. 18-CT/TW, the work of ensuring traffic order and safety has achieved many important results; people's awareness and compliance with traffic laws have changed positively. State management has been strengthened, traffic infrastructure has received investment attention, solutions to prevent and combat traffic congestion have been deployed more synchronously and effectively; traffic accidents have decreased in terms of the number of cases, deaths and injuries.

However, traffic order and safety are still complicated, causing frustration and anxiety in society; traffic culture has not been clearly formed; ensuring traffic order and safety is sometimes and in some places lax, some violations have not been completely resolved; traffic accidents have decreased but not sustainably; solving traffic congestion in some large cities and urban areas still faces many difficulties...

For the 2024 "Joining hands for traffic safety" Contest to be a success, the leaders of the Central Propaganda Department request that socio-political organizations, the National Traffic Safety Committee and Traffic Safety Committees of provinces and cities, the Ministry of Education and Training , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, etc. propagate and mobilize cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, students to actively participate in the Contest. There are timely and worthy forms of commendation and rewards at all levels.

Press and media agencies should increase the opening of special pages and columns to disseminate laws on traffic order and safety and the "Join hands for traffic safety" contest.

Reporting on the results of the 2023 Contest, Mr. Nguyen Cong Dung - Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Party Electronic Newspaper said that the "Joining hands for traffic safety" Contest took place for 8 weeks, recording nearly 4.5 million entries. The Organizing Committee awarded 8 first prizes, 16 second prizes, and 24 third prizes to the winning individuals. The provinces and cities leading in the number of participants in the 2023 Contest are Ha Tinh, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Giang, Hanoi, Can Tho, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Long An, Hai Phong, and Quang Ngai.
