He said, "We warned them dozens of times about the dangers their hostages were facing. We didn't want the situation to reach this point, but the (Israeli) leadership ignored us."

Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said on Tuesday that 31 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza had died. Israel said 136 hostages remain in Gaza.

The Palestinian Prisoners Organization, which provides records and care for all detained Palestinians, issued a statement on Tuesday saying that the number of Palestinians detained by Israel since October 7 has reached 7,000.

Meanwhile, thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. Netanyahu's popularity has plummeted in opinion polls since the October 7 attack by Hamas.

According to local media, the protesting crowd numbered several thousand people. "I want to tell the government that you have wasted too much time, you have ruined everything you can ruin. Now is the time for the people to fix all the bad things you have done," said one protester.

Prime Minister Netanyahu was asked at a press conference about calls for early elections as soon as the Gaza war ends. He rejected the idea, explaining, "It would immediately divide us. We need unity now."
