At the driving license issuance and exchange point at 252 Ly Chinh Thang, Ward 9, District 3 and Tien Bo Traffic College (No. 111 Tan Son Nhi, Tan Son Nhi Ward, Tan Phu District), there are still many people coming to apply for and exchange driving licenses.

Mr. Lu Minh Phung (43 years old, residing in District 6) said that at 9:30 this morning (February 28), he was present at the driver's license renewal point of the Driver's License Examination Management Department (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport) - No. 252 Ly Chinh Thang, Ward 9, District 3 to complete the application for a driver's license renewal that will expire next April.

“When I arrived, the security guard informed me that the application process would end at noon today. Because I arrived late, the authorities were closed on the weekend, so I had to wait until Monday morning to come back to complete the application,” said Mr. Phung.

Informing reporters about the transfer of the task of issuing and exchanging driving licenses from the transport sector to the police sector, Mr. Bui Hoa An - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and Public Works said that the units signed the task handover minutes yesterday afternoon (February 27).

“Today, the driving license renewal points of the management department will receive documents until 12 noon to complete the documents. From March 1, the task of granting driving licenses will be carried out by the police. In the immediate future, the issuance and renewal of driving licenses will be carried out at the three previous driving license renewal locations until the latest announcement from the police agency,” Mr. An informed.

Therefore, because March 1 falls on the weekend (driver's license renewal points do not work on Saturdays and Sundays), the issuance and renewal of driver's licenses by the police will begin from Monday morning next week (March 3).

On February 28, the Traffic Police Department (PC08) of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that from tomorrow (March 1), Ho Chi Minh City Police will receive applications for testing, exchanging, and reissuing driving licenses at 3 locations: 252 Ly Chinh Thang, Ward 9, District 3; 8 Nguyen Anh Thu, Trung My Tay Ward, District 12; 111 Tan Son Nhi, Tan Son Nhi Ward, Tan Phu District.

According to PC08, administrative procedures for issuing and exchanging driving licenses will not change when the transfer is made between the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Public Security . People can still carry out procedures for issuing and exchanging driving licenses as usual at direct reception points or through the national public service portal.
