At the recently held 6th National Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Do Thi Thu Thao said that over the past 5 years, the patriotic emulation movement of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has affirmed its core role in humanitarian work. The whole Society has assisted more than 102 million people, with a total value of over VND 29,186 billion, an increase of 45% compared to the previous period.

In particular, practical social humanitarian models such as charity porridge pot, Red Cross kitchen, house to house, Red Cross rice jar, livelihood support... brought in a value of 21,676 billion VND, supporting 56 million people. The humanitarian medical examination and treatment system served 40 million people; nearly 100,000 people were trained in first aid; more than 2 million people were informed about accident and injury prevention.

Disaster prevention and response work achieved many outstanding results, supporting 5.6 million people with a total value of 2,147 billion VND. Many practical activities such as cash support, livelihoods, safe housing, clean water, and early warning systems were expanded. International aid mobilization activities reached over 1,359 billion VND from 61 programs and projects, contributing to expanding cooperation and enhancing the Association's position in the international arena.

In particular, in the face of the serious flood situation in the Central region, President Do Thi Thu Thao called on the spirit of urgent action of members to continue promoting the tradition of helping each other, accompanying the Association in mobilizing humanitarian resources so that people in the Central region can have warm meals, safe housing and, more importantly, the confidence to start again.

Entering the 2025-2030 period, facing the challenges of climate change and the requirements of digital transformation, the Vietnam Red Cross Society is determined to continue innovating in a more professional, modern and closer-to-the-people direction.

The Association's patriotic emulation movement in the new period will also focus on five key tasks: building a strong Association organization, turning each level of the Association into a trustworthy "humanitarian center"; developing a team of cadres, members, and volunteers - "seeds of humanity" who act with heart and responsibility; each locality deploys at least one typical humanitarian model such as community safety or smart first aid; promoting digital transformation to make operations transparent and ensure resources reach the right people, in the right place, at the right time; strengthening international cooperation to spread Vietnamese humanitarian values ​​and expand community support initiatives.

Recognizing the proactiveness, effectiveness and high sense of responsibility of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in humanitarian activities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and serious natural disasters in Vietnam, Chief Representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Southeast Asia, Mr. Elkhan Rahimov, emphasized that IFRC will continue to support and accompany the Vietnam Red Cross Society so that it not only develops strongly in the country, but also becomes a strong national Society in Southeast Asia, capable of implementing more and better humanitarian activities, helping vulnerable people in Vietnam and neighboring countries.
