In a recent interview with Bloomberg, billionaire Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said the global push for technological sovereignty will lead to the development of entirely new markets, and countries around the world will seek to build their own infrastructure to ensure they can effectively use generative artificial intelligence (AI).

“The recognition of the importance of sovereign AI capabilities is now global. In the last 12 months, you have seen India, Japan, France, Canada, Southeast Asia, Singapore speaking out about the importance of investing in sovereign AI capabilities,” the 60-year-old billionaire said.
Jensen Huang, co-founder of artificial intelligence hardware and software company Nvidia, now valued at $1.7 trillion, also said that the push for AI sovereignty could cause the US to lose its dominance over the global tech industry, as governments around the world will increasingly use public funds to support the construction of the infrastructure needed for their own generative AI technology.
This view was reiterated by billionaire Jensen Huang at the World Government Summit (WGS) 2024 in Dubai, UAE. “You can’t allow others to do it for you (developing AI infrastructure). The rest is really up to you to proactively enable your industry, build the infrastructure as quickly as possible.”
Huang also believes that concerns about the dangers of AI are overblown. “There are some benefits that make people afraid of this new technology, that encourage others not to do anything about it. And I think that’s a mistake,” said the Nvidia CEO, noting that other new technologies like cars and aviation have caused similar concerns but have been successfully managed.
