Major universities begin accepting applications based on high school transcripts

High school transcript review is one of the early admission methods of universities. Candidates need to carefully study the admission methods of each school before submitting their application to avoid invalid applications.

Admission of excellent students

According to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH), this year the school will consider admission based on high school academic results (report cards) in two ways: considering excellent students (method 3) and considering the learning process according to subject combinations (method 4).

"These are two of UEH's early admission methods. Candidates can register online until 4:00 p.m. on May 10. To increase their chances of being admitted to UEH, each candidate can register for one or more methods, one or more programs, one or both places of study (HCMC and Vinh Long ) if they meet the prescribed conditions," said Mr. Hung.

Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry has just announced that it will start accepting applications based on high school transcripts. In this admission method, the school uses the 12th grade high school academic results (subjects included in the admission combination of the corresponding admission major).

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, head of the training department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said: "The threshold for receiving application documents is the total score of 3 subjects in the admission group equaling 21 points. For the pharmaceutical industry, the threshold for receiving application documents is 24 (total score of 3 subjects in the admission group) and having excellent academic performance in grade 12. For students from top schools, bonus points will be added when applying to the school. The school accepts applications until July 5. After that time, application documents are invalid."

5 semesters of high school

According to MSc. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, the school considers high school transcripts based on 5 semesters of high school. The school reserves about 30% of its quota for this method and accepts applications until June 23 (online and in person).

"The admission criteria is the average of the admission subject group, corresponding to each admission major of grade 10, grade 11 and semester 1 of grade 12, reaching 20 points or more. Admission will be considered from high to low until the quota is full. In case the admission reaches a certain score level and there are still quotas but the number of candidates with the same high score is greater than the remaining quota, the secondary criteria will be considered. Candidates with higher scores in math (or literature for group D15) will be admitted, except for the two majors of English and Chinese, English is the subject," Mr. Son added.

Vietnam Aviation Academy is also accepting applications for admission based on high school transcripts until May 31. The admission score is the total average score of 3 subjects in the combination in 5 semesters (grade 10, grade 11 and semester 1 or the whole year of grade 12 (for grade 12 score column, candidates can choose to use the whole year or semester 1 score; grade 10 and grade 11 score columns must use the whole year score) with a floor level of 18 or higher. For English language majors, candidates must have an average English score of 7 or higher.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry reserves about 25 - 30% of its total enrollment quota for the high school transcript review method. At the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City, the school only considers candidates who graduated from high school in 2024, based on the average score of 5 semesters (from semester 1 of grade 10 to semester 1 of grade 12). The score of each subject in the admission combination must be 6 points or higher. The score of each subject for admission is the average of the total score of 5 semesters of that subject.

At the Gia Lai and Ninh Thuan branches, for candidates graduating from high school in 2024, admission is based on the academic results of 5 semesters of high school. The admission requirement is that the total score of the 3 subjects must be 18 points or higher. The score of each subject is the average of the total score of the 5 semesters of that subject. For candidates graduating from high school from 2023 or earlier, admission is based on the academic results of 6 semesters of 3 years of high school. Candidates must have a total score of 3 subjects of the admission combination of 18 points or higher. The score of each subject is the average of the total score of the 6 semesters of that subject...

Consider international language certificates with academic records

According to MSc. Le Van Hien - Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, this year the school will consider early admission according to the school's admission plan for 2 groups of candidates using high school transcripts.

Accordingly, the school considers international language certificates in English/or French/or Japanese, along with the transcripts of 5 semesters of high school (subject 2) and considers the transcripts of 3 years of high school for candidates from specialized high schools, gifted high schools and high schools with the highest average score in the high school graduation exam according to the list of "High schools with priority for early admission in 2024 of Ho Chi Minh City National University" (subject 3).
