The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just issued a plan to organize a city-level excellent student exam to select students to participate in the national exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City organized a city-level excellent student exam on September 17-18 with subjects such as literature, history, geography, math, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, English, French, Chinese, and Japanese.

Contestants are students in grades 10, 11, and 12 in the 2025-2026 school year, with good or better academic and training results in the 2024-2025 school year.

The Department of Education and Training announced that in Region 1 (formerly Ho Chi Minh City) and Region 3 (formerly Ba Ria-Vung Tau), specialized schools and schools with specialized classes must send at least 50% of students from specialized classes to take the exam in the specialized subject they are studying; high schools and general schools with high school level must send a maximum of 5 students to take the exam in each subject.

In Area 2 (formerly Binh Duong ), students who have been selected through round 1 in February 2025, organized by the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province (formerly) will be selected to participate in the Ho Chi Minh City-level exam on the above 2 days.

Each candidate will take 2 exams/subject with a duration of 180 minutes/exam. In which, the second exam for foreign languages ​​includes a listening test; the IT subject performs programming on a computer with the programming languages ​​C++, Pascal and Python.

Candidates will compete in 3 areas as follows:

Area 1 : Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (No. 235 Nguyen Van Cu, Cho Quan Ward) and Marie Curie High School (No. 159 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Xuan Hoa Ward).

Area 2 : Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted (No. 593 Binh Duong Boulevard, Thu Dau Mot Ward).

Area 3 : Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (3/2 Street, Phuoc Thang Ward).

As expected, by 5:00 p.m. on October 3 at the latest, the Department of Education and Training will announce the results of the city-level excellent student exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, announced the principle of selecting the city's excellent student team: The exam is graded on a 20-point scale. Students participating in the exam will be considered for the city's selection team in order of priority from highest to lowest exam score (the exam score is the total score of the 2 exams).

Students selected for the preliminary team will participate in review and training according to the time frame and instructions of the Department of Education and Training. After completing the training period, students will take the second round of the exam. Based on the results of the second round, the Department of Education and Training will select students from the preliminary team to join the official team of Ho Chi Minh City.

Grade 12 students in the official team will be recognized as excellent students at the city level for the 2025-2026 school year (first prize).
