Many students from 'normal' schools in Ho Chi Minh City are on the national excellent student team.

On the morning of October 7, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to launch the team participating in the national excellent student exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has selected 480 students in grades 10, 11, and 12 to form a team to participate in the national excellent student exam (12 subjects: literature, history, geography, math, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, English, French, Chinese, Japanese).

This is the result of the exam to select teams to participate in the national excellent student exam organized by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City in September 2025 (the total number of candidates participating in the exam is more than 3,300 students).

Students selected for the team will be reviewed and trained for about 10 weeks, before officially entering the national excellent student exam for the 2025-2026 school year.

It is known that among these 480 students, area 1 (formerly Ho Chi Minh City) has 384 students, area 2 (formerly Binh Duong) and area 3 (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau ) have 96 students.

In addition to students from specialized high schools: Le Hong Phong, Tran Dai Nghia, Le Quy Don (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Hung Vuong (formerly Binh Duong ), this year, regular high schools also have many students passing the national excellent student competition.

Among them, in addition to students from famous high schools such as Nguyen Thuong Hien, Phu Nhuan, Le Quy Don, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Gia Dinh, Mac Dinh Chi... there are also students from Chau Thanh High School (in area 3), Binh Tan High School, Hung Vuong High School, Tran Van Giau High School (area 1)...

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that this is the first time Ho Chi Minh City has had such a large team participating in the national excellent student exam.

"After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City has become an educational super city with many development opportunities but also many challenges awaiting. However, I believe that with the youth and enthusiasm of the students and the close attention of the teachers and the education sector, there is no difficulty that we cannot overcome.

The upcoming 10 weeks of training will be an opportunity for the students to learn, interact, interact, and exchange with their teammates and good teachers. This will be the beginning of good things such as career orientation, improving their capacity and determination to achieve high results in the upcoming exams," said Mr. Hieu.

The whole hall was filled with excitement, the students clapped their hands continuously when the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City informed that the students of the selection team would have a week of concentrated study at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau).

"Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted has spacious dormitories, beautiful and spacious facilities, and is close to the sea. Studying here will help students recharge their energy to achieve good results in the national excellent student exam," Mr. Hieu shared.

Results of the national excellent student exam of Ho Chi Minh City students in the 2024-2025 school year

At the national excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation (before the merger) won 166 prizes, maintaining the 2nd place nationwide. The number of first prizes increased in all subjects, including 1 student winning the top prize in literature.

The Ba Ria - Vung Tau student delegation (before the merger) won 56 prizes, ranked 27th out of 63 provinces and cities.

Binh Duong student delegation (before merger) won 46 prizes, an increase of 2 second prizes and 2 consolation prizes compared to the 2023-2024 school year.
