Typically, the International Chemistry Olympiad team for the period 2020 - 2025 There were 24 excellent contestants winning 24 medals, including 21 gold medals and 38 silver medals, always maintaining the top 5 countries with the best achievements participating in the International Chemistry Olympiad.

In 2018, Nguyen Phuong Thao, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences , Hanoi National University, won a gold medal at the International Biology Olympiad, being the contestant with the highest score in the world with 98.13/100 points, breaking the record for the highest score in the history of Vietnam's participation in this arena.

There are 10th grade students who have won international gold medals, all of whom are students of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University, such as Ngo Quy Dang, who won a gold medal at the 2020 International Math Olympiad; Vo Hoang Hai, who won a gold medal at the 2022 International Physics Olympiad...

For many years, Vietnam has been in the top 10 countries with the best results in the Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Information Technology Olympiads worldwide . Proposal to allow skipping levels, have excellent university training programs...

However, Professor Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) also pointed out a series of problems in detecting, training and fostering the current team of excellent students. The laboratory system is still limited in both quality and quantity, there are no modern labs, synchronous STEM labs for students to get acquainted and practice in depth during the learning process and before exams.

Priority budget for training, fostering, coaching, etc. is still limited, and the expenditure level is not commensurate with the workload.

What is more worth discussing, according to Professor Chuong, is that most students with high achievements go to study abroad and stay.

The reason is that there is no specific training mechanism to attract and nurture these talented people, leading to most of them studying abroad; there is no recruitment mechanism, appropriate treatment, or suitable working environment for these people after completing their university, master's, or doctoral programs, causing many students to hesitate even though they want to return to contribute to the country.

The network of contacts with students after their achievements has not been built to mobilize them to serve the country's innovation and development process.

Mr. Chuong shared that the Ministry of Education and Training is "very concerned" because we have many forms of honor and reward for students who win prizes in exams, but when they enter the advanced training stage, the policies are "left open", while their learning path and dedication are still very long ahead.

Therefore, in the future orientation, the Director of the Department of Quality Management believes that it is necessary to maintain and improve the training and fostering of excellent students to participate in regional and international Olympics in the direction of approaching international models and promoting the ability to self-study, self-read, self-research...

There are excellent domestic university and postgraduate training programs that attract and retain award-winning students to study and research.

Piloting skipping levels and classes with a dual degree training mechanism (allowing talented people to study at domestic universities and combine online and short-term direct study to receive additional international degrees from prestigious educational institutions).

Prioritize job positions and appropriate remuneration after completing studies and research. For example, Resolution 57 is to attract chief engineers, chief engineers, heads of key laboratories, heads of majors, heads of research groups at educational institutions, etc.

Mr. Chuong affirmed that the Ministry of Education and Training will urgently develop a project on selecting, nurturing, training, using, and rewarding talented, key, and gifted personnel (including excellent students and Olympic winners).
