ILA

In many modern families, conversations are getting shorter, while time spent on electronic devices is getting longer. Children are under pressure to study, parents are struggling between expectations and limited time. The closeness that was once the norm for many generations of Vietnamese families is gradually being replaced by hasty nods between two bright screens.
In this vortex, children’s learning is not just about lessons or school, but also a journey of building emotions, personality and the ability to understand themselves. Children need support to learn to listen, to persevere, to open up to the real world – things that no screen can fully teach.
From knowledge to life: ILA rekindles the value of “learning to grow up”

After three decades of accompanying more than one million Vietnamese students, ILA understands that education not only creates the capacity to adapt, but also nurtures personality and life values so that the young generation can proactively create the future.
From academic English to global skills, from classroom environment to real-life experiences, ILA's journey is consistent with the mission of "Education changes lives", nurturing students' abilities, emotions and personal identity.
The Going to School Series on the occasion of ILA's 30th anniversary is a natural continuation: a cultural and educational space that helps parents, children and society look back at the seemingly old but extremely important question: Who do we study to become in life?
Real slices of connection

If the generation of parents grew up with the sound of bamboo fans and evening meals together, today’s children grow up with the sound of screens and a life divided by devices. Closeness over time becomes something that must be “forced”, instead of something that comes naturally.
Each episode of the Going to School series is a sincere and emotional conversation between the host and guests from many fields: art, business, education, ILA students, to reflect on learning from slices of life, especially emphasizing the value of connection in today's era. Those gaps are looked at directly, not to blame or compare, but to understand and get closer.
Director Victor Vu shares a simple perspective that is imbued with memories and a strong family atmosphere: “Despite being busy, my husband and I always try to spend quality time with our children. When we are with our children, we are truly present. It is only a few dozen minutes of picking them up and dropping them off each day, but it is very precious, because that is when our children know that their parents are always there.”
Businessman Lam Thanh Kim also sees fatherhood as a second class: “What children need is not a lot of toys, but the full presence of an adult.”
Teacher Nhu Nguyen (Tran Dai Nghia specialized school) chose to start by listening: “When I listen to students, even when they are not right, they still feel respected. The happiness of the teaching profession is the relationships that continue after the students graduate.”
Students Phuc Tri and Thao Duyen represent a generation that dares to try, dares to change and perseveres. For them, growing up is not a straight line, but a journey of understanding oneself through each small step.

Going to school - the journey of growing up together
Whether parents, teachers or students, we are all learning: learning to grow together in a rapidly changing world. In seemingly small moments – a story on the way to school, a few minutes of listening before bedtime, a trusting look between teacher and student – connections are re-seeded, nurturing character and resilience.
With “Going to School”, ILA hopes that each episode will become a delicate bridge between generations: parents understand their children better, children open up to their parents, and teachers become trustworthy companions. Learning at school is important, but “learning” together in every meal, every question “Are you happy today?” is what nurtures complete growth.
“Going to school” is not just a 30-year milestone of ILA. This is a new journey to reconnect with the true spirit of learning - where children are inspired to learn for life, loved, trusted and guided to become fully mature. Going to school is not just about going to class. Going to school is about growing up together. And maturity always starts with a real connection.
The series “Going to School” is broadcast every Friday on ILA’s official digital channels such as ILA Vietnam Fanpage, YouTube, TikTok and shown at 74 ILA centers nationwide with the hope of rekindling a seemingly familiar but sometimes forgotten value: knowledge creates the future, but love and presence nurture young souls.
