News of the incident has left schools and parents in a state of panic. Many schools were forced to notify parents to pick up their children the same day, while police searched suspicious areas.
This year, schools, airlines and airports across India have received multiple bomb threats via email, which were later determined to be fake.
Data from the Indian government shows that from the beginning of the year to mid-November, airlines in the country received a total of 999 fake bomb threat reports and 12 people were arrested in connection with these incidents.
Two schools in New Delhi received threatening emails on the evening of December 8, informing them that multiple bombs had been placed inside the buildings and would be detonated if the threat did not receive a ransom of $30,000 as demanded. Delhi police have not yet responded to the information.
In May 2024, more than 50 schools in New Delhi and the surrounding Noida area received similar threatening emails. However, after investigation, these messages were also found to be fake.
