The most economical way to use electricity

VTC NewsVTC News11/11/2023

Saving electricity is an important way to reduce costs and reduce negative impacts on the environment. Here are some tips for saving electricity, especially useful when electricity prices are high:

1. Use LED lights: LED lights consume less electricity than traditional lights and also have a longer lifespan.

2. Turn off appliances when not in use: Make sure to turn off all electrical appliances when they are not needed, even if they are just on standby.

3. Use smart plugs: Smart plugs can be programmed to automatically turn off devices when they are not needed, saving energy.

4. Choose energy-efficient appliances: When shopping for electrical appliances, choose products that are certified to be energy efficient.

5. Regular maintenance: Regularly maintain electrical appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners to ensure they operate efficiently and save energy.

6. Use a full washing machine or dishwasher: If your washing machine can wash up to 12kg/time, wait until it is full before starting the machine. This helps to maximize the electricity used in each cycle, reducing electricity consumption.

7. Take advantage of natural light: Open curtains and take advantage of natural light during the day to reduce the need for lights.

8. Change your electricity usage habits: Make small changes to your daily routine, such as turning off lights when leaving a room and not leaving appliances on standby for long periods of time.

9. Improve insulation: Make sure your home is well insulated and airtight to use your air conditioner efficiently.

10. Invest in solar power: If possible, consider installing a solar power system to reduce your dependence on grid power.

11. Choose energy-efficient refrigerators and washing machines: These appliances account for a large portion of household energy consumption. When buying, choose products that are certified as energy efficient.

12. Choose dishwashers and washing machines that save water and electricity: Many new dishwashers and washing machines have water and electricity saving modes, you should consider using these types of machines instead of just paying attention to the function.

13. Use smart fans: Smart fans can adjust their operating speed based on temperature and humidity levels, helping to save energy.

14. Change your air conditioner settings: Turning down the air conditioner temperature in the summer and turning up the heat in the winter can help reduce your energy costs.

15. Use a smart water heater: Using a smart water heater or kettle when you need hot water, instead of leaving the water heater on 24/7, will help you save significantly on electricity consumption.

16. Turn off the computer screen when not in use: For laptops or desktops, turn off the screen when not in use to save power. You should also turn off or put the computer into sleep mode when not in use to reduce power consumption.

17. Use ceiling fans: When using air conditioners, ceiling fans can help distribute cool air more evenly, helping to reduce the pressure of distributing cool air to the air conditioner, helping to reduce electricity consumption.

Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) announced that from November 9, the average retail electricity price will increase by 4.5%, to VND2,006.79/kWh (excluding value added tax).

This decision specifically regulates electricity prices for each customer group.

For household electricity customers, the retail electricity price is applied to 6 levels. Including, level 1 from 0 - 50 kWh is 1,806 VND/kWh; level 2 from 51 - 100 kWh is 1,866 VND/kWh; level 3 from 101 - 200 kWh is 2,167 VND/kWh; level 4 from 201 - 300 kWh is 2,729 VND/kWh; level 5 is 3,050 VND/kWh. Level 6 applies to 401 kWh or more with a price of 3,151 VND/kWh.

After the electricity price is adjusted, each month for customers using level 1, the additional electricity bill is 3,900 VND; level 2 increases by 7,900 VND; level 3 increases by 17,200 VND; level 4 increases by a maximum of 28,900 VND; level 5 increases by 42,000 VND; level 6 has an additional electricity bill of 55,600 VND.

For manufacturing, business and service sectors, the additional amount depends on the usage and rate of electricity usage at peak and off-peak times.

According to calculations, for the service industry, the additional electricity bill each month is 230,000 VND/month; for the production group, it will be 423,000 VND more; for administrative and career customers, it will be 90,000 VND more.
