How young people create trends for tourism

According to a recent study by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), youth-oriented tourism is becoming a strong trend. The young generation, who are at the age of adulthood and are economically independent, are willing to invest time, money and emotions in exploring the world.

Personalization and digitalization of travel

There are hundreds of millions of trips taken by young people around the world every year. Compared to other age groups, this group tends to spend more and is also more likely to return to the same tourist destination. This generation has advantages in terms of health, finance, knowledge, and emotions. They care more about health, green lifestyles, and forms of entertainment and relaxation to balance their lives. The way they travel also focuses on experiences and exploration instead of just relaxation and enjoyment. The value of each trip is measured by new experiences and discoveries throughout the journey. Many young people also have the need to travel alone or personalize their trips by searching for information about destinations, booking services, and arranging schedules according to their personal preferences.

More interestingly, young people often want to share their own travel experiences as part of social media culture. Perhaps no one can lead, motivate and inspire their trips better than them. And that is gradually changing the nature of tourism. With their agility and habit of using advanced devices in all aspects of life, the young generation is also contributing to the emergence of many new technology platforms and applications serving the travel experience.

Along with the trend of using social networks to share about trips and destinations; young people today also pay special attention to the experience of "digital travel". They take advantage of technological devices to learn about the destination in advance, from culture, landscape, service quality, prices, entertainment products and then book hotels, tours... In particular, they are increasingly interested in interactive content, evaluating the quality of destinations and tend to be "led" by influential people such as artists or famous bloggers, creating a significant impact on the current way of tourism communication.

Trips that bond family

Multi-generational travel has been a growing segment in recent years, but at present, it is gradually becoming a form of tourism with great influence and promoting a new wave of family tourism globally. The form of tourists traveling in groups of friends and families always accounts for a high proportion. And young people, with their agility and diverse understanding, are the generation leading this form of tourism. They are increasingly pursuing the trend of slower and deeper travel, which is also a way to harmonize and connect with older generations in the family, explore and find common joy. That is an important premise to nurture positive emotions, shape and rebalance relationships.

Family trips will not simply be about going to crowded entertainment spots, but will shift to experiences of exploring nature, culture, and history, where the younger generation and their grandparents and parents can fully share knowledge, understanding, and emotions. It can be seen that in the "travel universe", the younger generation is the center, capable of adjusting and creating "trends" for all movements around them. They are proactive, agile, adaptable, not afraid to explore new things, and constantly expect and demand. Therefore, the tourism industry must be ready to communicate with them through as many communication channels as possible such as social networks, news, online reviews, and real values. A period of smart and open tourism will certainly originate from here.
