On October 23, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Luong Bang Quang (singer, musician) and Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan (commonly known as Ngan 98) for the crime of Bribery. At the same time, the Police Department also issued a decision to prosecute Le Sy Cuong (born in 1987, residing in Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) for the crime of Bribery Brokerage .

In July 2024, the couple was accused of giving a total of VND8 billion to Le Sy Cuong - an acquaintance in society - to help avoid being prosecuted when authorities discovered violations in business activities.

From hit musician to scandal-ridden

Luong Bang Quang started his music career in 2000, as a musician, singer and record producer. He is known for many famous songs in the Vietnamese music industry such as Chinh Em, Dung Lam Noi Dau Neng Long, I Believe We Have Exchanged Each Other A Memory, Bay Cung Tinh Yeu, Noi Dau Dou Do...

However, since 2017 when he made his relationship with Ngan 98 public, the male singer has been involved in many scandals. The story of Luong Bang Quang breaking up with Ngan 98 and then getting back together is like a 'trick' that attracts the curiosity of the audience.

After 10 years without releasing any notable music videos or products, the male musician has almost disappeared from the music scene. Instead, there has been a series of scandals involving Luong Bang Quang and Ngan 98, from the story of the female DJ wearing revealing clothes to the two of them getting plastic surgery.

What people see of Luong Bang Quang and his girlfriend Ngan 98 are only clips and livestreams tirelessly advertising online sales, showing off their 'delicacies' and ostentatious lifestyle on social networks.

Greed, illusion of power lead to bitter end?

Not only being involved in scandals, Luong Bang Quang and Ngan 98 were arrested in 2020 for testing positive for drugs. Ngan 98 was accused of selling poor quality goods in May 2025, with a series of social media posts from consumers leading to major controversy on forums on Facebook and TikTok.

Ngan 98 was prosecuted for the crime of Manufacturing and trading in counterfeit food products on October 16. Luong Bang Quang was not initially implicated but often shared his feelings through videos on social networks. When the investigation was expanded, Ho Chi Minh City Police said that Luong Bang Quang and Ngan 98 had bribed 8 billion VND through an intermediary (Le Sy Cuong) to avoid the case.

Is this a tragedy that was foretold when the scandals in the past partly revealed the dark corners of a couple that was once the concern of millions of people? Could it be that greed and the illusion of power have obscured their responsibility and morality, leading to a bitter ending?

The price that Luong Bang Quang and Ngan 98 are paying is very high. And their “fall” is a reminder to young artists that the halo can be dazzling but no one is allowed to exchange it for lies or disregard for the law.
