On May 22, 2025, Chinese automaker Geely officially launched its new flagship SUV called the Galaxy M9 at a global launch event held in Milan, Italy.

This is a large 6-seat SUV model integrated with AI artificial intelligence technology and developed based on the GEA Evo chassis platform with the goal of setting a new standard for large SUVs in the Chinese market. Geely Galaxy M9 has impressive dimensions with length x width x height of 5,205 x 1,999 x 1,800 mm respectively.

In addition, the design is a fusion of Chinese and global aesthetics. According to Geely, the M9 uses the "ripple aesthetic" design language typical of the Galaxy sub-brand. The body has the appearance of a traditional SUV, providing a spacious interior.

Horizontal lines are used extensively to emphasize the strong and imposing feeling. The front of the car has a closed grille typical of the Galaxy line, combined with LED headlights designed to connect on both sides, similar to the taillights.

Meanwhile, the front bumper comes with two vertical air intakes on both sides, helping to reduce wind resistance. Below is a closed central air intake, which can be actively opened to cool when running slowly and closed to reduce resistance when running fast.

On the roof of the car is a protruding LiDAR sensor - an important part of Geely's "Thien Ly Hao Han" driving assistance system. Notably, the car's door handles still retain the traditional mechanical design instead of the type hidden in the body as is the prevailing trend.

Inside the Geely Galaxy M9 is an interior that emphasizes comfort and space for passengers with a length of 3.7 meters and a height of 1.3 meters. The second and third row seats are completely flat, plus a 180 mm wide aisle in the middle.

Highlights inside the car include a 30-inch central touchscreen that extends to the front of the passenger seat. In addition, there is a compact digital instrument panel, a head-up display (HUD) and a ceiling-mounted screen for rear passengers to enjoy.

As mentioned above, this large SUV is equipped with an intelligent interior that supports AI. In addition, the interior configuration has 6 seats with the second row of seats flexibly designed with many comfort modes. The backrest of the third row of seats can be electrically adjusted up to 150 degrees while the large rear side windows provide a clear view for passengers.

The "heart" of the Geely Galaxy M9 is a powerful hybrid powertrain called Thor EM-P, capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and an operating range of over 1,500 km. In addition, the 11-in-1 integrated smart electric powertrain, the "God of War" safety battery system and the AI ​​energy management system help reduce consumption. The fuel consumption when the battery is empty of this large SUV is only 4.8 liters/100 km.

In addition, the car is also integrated with the G-pilot H5 intelligent driving assistance system, called Thien Ly Hao Han in Chinese as mentioned above. At the press conference to launch the car, Geely CEO Canh Gia Duy said that the name M9 comes from the new division in the Galaxy car line.

In the future, the Galaxy line will be divided into two branches, the first is A-net with the M (SUV) and A (sedan) lines, the current E and L lines will be merged. The second is Star-net, which will include the Starship (SUV) and Starlight (sedan) lines. The Galaxy M9 is Geely's strategic move to increase competitiveness in the large SUV segment.

Despite its size and equipment being on par with high-end SUVs like the AITO M9 or Li Auto L9, the Galaxy M9 is expected to cost between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan (about 700 million to 1.05 billion VND). With a price only half that of the AITO M9, Geely's new recruit could become a formidable competitor and a strong candidate for the title of best-selling car in the segment.
