Since Huawei was blacklisted by the US government in 2019, the technology company has sought every solution to gradually reduce its dependence on the US for its products, including designing its own mobile chips and building its own operating system.
At the end of October last year, Huawei launched the HarmonyOS Next platform for its mobile devices. This is a completely new mobile platform built by Huawei, no longer relying on the open source code of the Android platform as before.
Recently, Huawei continued to launch the HarmonyOS 5 operating system developed by Huawei itself to completely replace the Windows operating system on the company's computer models.
Huawei said it took more than 5 years, with the participation of 10,000 software and hardware engineers, to complete the development of HarmonyOS 5. The most outstanding advantage of this operating system is the almost instantaneous startup mode, similar to when users unlock their smartphones to use.
HarmonyOS 5 also allows users to easily sync data across computers and Huawei's HarmonyOS-powered smartphones.
The first two laptops equipped with HarmonyOS 5 are MateBook Fold and MateBook Pro.
Standing out among them is the MateBook Fold, a laptop with a unique folding screen design. The product has a design like a regular laptop, but instead of a physical keyboard, the MateBook Fold is designed entirely with a touch screen, with a size of 18 inches.

The MateBook Fold can be folded in half to reduce its size or opened up in positions similar to a laptop, with half the screen used to display content and the other half acting as a touch keyboard.
The MateBook Fold stands out with its ultra-thin design, the product is only 7.3mm thick when expanded and 14.9mm thick when folded in half. Users can expand the MateBook Fold to turn the product into an 18-inch computer screen, 3.3K resolution (3296x2472), then use the detachable keyboard to control this laptop.
Huawei did not disclose information about the chip equipped on the product, but said the MateBook Fold is equipped with a screen with a maximum brightness of up to 1,600 nits, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.
The MateBook Fold is currently only available in China, priced at $3,300.

In addition to the MateBook Fold, another laptop that is also equipped with Huawei's brand new HarmonyOS 5 operating system is the MateBook Pro.
The MateBook Pro is a traditional laptop, with a 14.2-inch 3K (3120x2080) resolution screen and a 120Hz refresh rate. This laptop stands out with its thickness of only 13.5mm and weight of only 970g.

Huawei also did not announce the type of chip equipped on the MateBook Pro, but said the product will have 24GB or 32GB RAM options, accompanied by 512GB, 1TB or 2TB storage. The product is equipped with a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, USB 3.2 connection port, backlit keyboard, 1080p resolution camera...
MateBook Pro will be sold in the Chinese market from June 6, with a starting price of 7,999 yuan (equivalent to 28.7 million VND) for the 24GB/512GB memory option and the highest 10,999 yuan (equivalent to 39.5 million VND) for the 32GB/2TB memory option.
