This is a project within the project to upgrade and expand a number of bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1 with a total investment of nearly 2,000 billion VND. Particularly, the Deo Ngang road tunnel and more than 2km of access road to the tunnel have a construction value of more than 340 billion VND. The starting point of the project is in Ky Nam ward, Ky Anh town (Ha Tinh) and the ending point is in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district ( Quang Binh ). |

According to the design, the new tunnel is 555m long and 10.5m wide, and is expected to be completed in 2025. When completed, Deo Ngang tunnel will operate 2 parallel tunnels with a roadbed width of up to 20.5m, providing 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles. |

According to the representative of the Railway Project Management Board (project investor), the Deo Ngang tunnel has quite complex geology, along with the harsh hot weather, which has significantly affected the construction. Deo Ngang Tunnel currently has a main tunnel length of 495m and a system of approaching roads of nearly 2.2km. The main tunnel is 11.5m wide, 7.5m high, has been in operation for 20 years, and has a maximum speed of 50km/h. |
