Need solutions to diversify export markets

Through studying the draft Political Report of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, term XVII, I find the economic growth target for the next term to be at least 12%/year very noteworthy. This is a challenging target, requiring great efforts in leadership, direction and implementation of the entire political system, including very high demands from the head of the province.

Looking back at the province's economy in recent years, Hai Duong's economic growth is quite high. In 2024, the economy grew by 10.2%, ranking 6th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide and 3rd out of 11 provinces and cities in the Red River Delta. Budget revenue in 2024 increased sharply, setting a record of 30,774 billion VND, an increase of 38% compared to 2023. The province's economic scale is estimated at 212,386 billion VND, ranking 11th nationwide. The above growth rate has a large contribution from FDI enterprises in the province.

It is forecasted that the world and regional situation in the coming time will have many complex and unpredictable developments, in addition to the unpredictable tariff policy of the US, which will greatly affect the goods of Hai Duong enterprises exporting to the US market. Currently, the majority of enterprises in Hai Duong exporting goods to the US market are FDI enterprises. Therefore, the economic growth of the province depends a lot on the "health" of FDI enterprises.

To achieve the growth target as proposed in the draft Political Report, in my opinion, it is necessary to implement synchronous solutions, which are: Continuing to have more preferential policies, creating favorable conditions to attract businesses, especially large businesses, including FDI enterprises.

To reduce dependence on the US market, the province needs to promote trade with markets that have free trade agreements, such as: EU (EVFTA), Japan - Korea - Australia - Canada (CPTPP), ASEAN, Middle East, Africa... especially in the following industries: textiles, footwear, mechanical components, processed agricultural products. Encourage businesses to shift their model from "made to order" to "design - own brand" to have a better negotiating position when entering new markets.

Support small and medium enterprises to improve standardization capacity, access cross-border e-commerce platforms and multinational logistics chains.
