Attending the program were Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City; cardiologists from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, hospitals in Can Tho City...
This is an activity under the program "Heart for Children", humanitarian heart surgery for disadvantaged children under 18 years old, jointly implemented by Tam Long Viet Fund, Vietnam Television and Viettel Group.
Accordingly, the free medical examination program starts from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (August 16) and from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (August 17) at Soc Trang General Hospital (No. 378 Le Duan Street, Phu Loi Ward, Can Tho City).

The subjects of examination are all children from newborn to under 18 years old in the city and neighboring areas. The number of children expected to be screened for congenital heart disease during this period is 800.
Cardiologists recommend that children with symptoms such as rapid breathing, prolonged cough, pale skin, purple lips, poor feeding, or sweating... are signs that cannot be ignored. Therefore, parents are advised to take their children to the doctor early for timely detection and treatment.

Each congenital heart surgery currently costs about 40 million VND, a huge amount for many families in difficult circumstances. However, after screening, all children found to have congenital heart disease from families in difficult circumstances will receive support for surgery costs from the “Heart for Children” program.
Launched in 2018, over 17 years, the program has screened for congenital heart disease for more than 180,000 children and supported surgery for more than 7,800 pediatric patients.
