The impact of storm No. 11 caused heavy rains that lasted for two days, causing many areas in Trung Gia commune to be deeply flooded, isolating thousands of households. The government and functional forces are urgently deploying rescue plans and supporting people in flooded areas.

Roads turned into rivers, villages submerged in "sea of water"

Since the morning of October 9, water from rivers and lakes upstream has continued to accumulate, causing many roads in Trung Gia commune to be deeply flooded, paralyzing traffic. On National Highway 3, many places are nearly 1.5 meters deep; the section passing Xuan Son Cultural House, more than 500 meters long, is chest-deep. On Provincial Road 35, from Ny football field to Tu Tao bridge, the water is more than 1 meter deep...

Some residents of An Lac village (Trung Gia commune) said: "Last night, the Cau River rose very quickly, in just a few hours it flooded the yard, the whole family had to move their belongings to higher ground. This morning, the road outside was flooded, we could only wait for the force to come and support us."

According to the Trung Gia Commune Civil Defense Command, by 12 noon on October 9, the Cau River water level at Luong Phuc station had exceeded the III alarm level by nearly 2m; the Cong River overflowed the Do Tan dike (level IV dike) by about 20cm. Some sections of the Go Sanh and Vong Am dikes were at risk of overflowing, and local authorities had set up guard posts and emergency dike protection.

On the night of October 8, the People's Committee of Trung Gia commune activated all natural disaster response plans, mobilizing militia forces, commune police, youth union members to coordinate with Artillery Regiment 86, Brigade 86, Unit Z49 and a number of businesses in the area to participate in supporting people to evacuate. Each working group was assigned to the villages, especially Do Tan, An Lac, Hoa Binh - where the water rose the fastest to support people to evacuate.

Party Secretary Le Huu Manh said: “We have directed the forces to evacuate more than 2,500 people out of nearly 7,000 people who need to be evacuated. The first priority is the elderly, children, and pregnant women. The forces are still on standby to support the remaining households if the Cau River water level continues to rise.”

At the Do Tan dike area, dozens of trucks and excavators were urgently mobilized to build embankments, reinforce the dike roof, and prevent water from overflowing. Forces were on duty day and night, ready to respond in case of an incident. At the same time, the commune organized safe gathering points at the village cultural house, the commune People's Committee headquarters, and schools to welcome evacuees.

The commune health force coordinated with Soc Son Health Center to prepare medicine, drinking water, food and essential items to distribute to households isolated by floodwaters. Many businesses and organizations in the area also supported instant noodles, clean water, life jackets and flashlights for people in flooded areas.

It is forecasted that in the coming days, the circulation after storm No. 11 may still cause rain in Hanoi . Trung Gia commune is maintaining a serious on-duty regime, closely coordinating with the military, police, and medical forces, ensuring readiness to respond to any arising situations.

“There are still many difficulties, but we determine that the highest task is to protect the safety of the people. We will not leave anyone behind in this natural disaster,” emphasized Party Secretary Le Huu Manh.
