Kim Bong belongs to Cam Kim commune, located on the other side of Thu Bon river, about 3km from Hoi An ancient town, is an ancient land and a famous village tourist attraction of Quang Nam.
Here, village culture with sharing and connecting social relationships, beliefs, community activities, promoting traditional crafts... is still preserved by the people.
To promote indigenous cultural values, on the afternoon of June 14, the People's Committee of Cam Kim commune organized a Kim Bong rural market recreating "Memories of a rural market in the mid-20th century". The market opened at 4 p.m. but lasted until 10 p.m.
At the rural market, the scenes of buying and selling, exchanging goods and the space arranged as if time had gone back decades ago make many people excited.
The market hardly sells modern, industrial goods... but only goods from the difficult times such as taffy, green beans, stir-fried mussels, Quang noodles... The market also does not use plastic bags or plastic products. Goods are wrapped in banana leaves and cloth bags that people who go to the market carry.
Market goers can also participate. Folk games such as bai choi, bingo, blindfolded pot smashing, tam huong pouring, jumping rope... The market designs a space for children to learn to sing folk songs, listen to country music...
"Through this market, Cam Kim not only introduces the unique intangible heritage values of Quang Nam but also gradually forms a new community tourism product - connecting tourists and connecting generations.
"More importantly, it connects people with their cultural roots," said the market organizers.
