According to statistics from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, in the first months of this year, Vietnam welcomed a large number of Korean visitors. In February alone, with more than 468,000 visitors to Vietnam, Korea ranked first in the list of the largest tourist sending markets.
On the Korean side, the Seoul Tourism Industry Department also said that each year, about 20,000 Vietnamese tourists come to this city for medical examination, treatment and beauty treatments. Vietnam is currently among the top 10 markets for medical tourists to Seoul.
Therefore, Vietnam and Korea have jointly sought solutions to expand healthcare services combined with tourism to serve the growing needs of Vietnamese people.
Currently, Seoul is considered a place with many attractive factors for medical tourists such as advanced medical tourism infrastructure system, safe and friendly tourism environment.
In addition, the Korean cultural wave with its strong appeal from beauty, music , entertainment, movies and cuisine is contributing to significantly increasing Vietnamese people's interest in Korean tourism in general and medical tourism in particular.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ham Kyung-jun - Director of Seoul Tourism Industry Department - said that this event not only promotes tourism, especially Seoul medical tourism, but also has great significance in strengthening cooperation and exchange between Korea and Vietnam.
Not only introducing its medical strengths, the Korean side also expressed its desire to cooperate more closely with Vietnam in training medical personnel, providing Vietnamese interpreter and coordinator services, as well as establishing a transnational healthcare network.

Notably, in addition to the field of medical tourism, the parties also expect to expand cooperation to tourism products combining health care, relaxation, beauty, in-depth consultation, etc. to create comprehensive service packages to serve the increasingly diverse needs of tourists from both countries.
Experts say that in the context of the global tourism industry recovering strongly after the Covid-19 pandemic, Korea and Vietnam actively expanding cooperation in specialized fields such as medical tourism will not only help diversify tourism products but also strengthen bilateral relations, towards sustainable development and mutual benefit.
