When the tide recedes, the beach of Dong An Vinh village, Ly Son district ( Quang Ngai ) reveals beautiful clumps of chives, looking like a smooth green carpet. Chives are nearly 10cm tall and grow underwater.
The seaweed clumps are a haven for baby fish, starfish and snails...
Mr. Le Van Trong (52 years old, in Dong An Vinh village, Ly Son district) said that since the end of October, chives have grown a lot on the sand dunes on Ly Son island. This is the habitat of many small fish, snails, crabs... During the breeding season, fish often go into the chives to lay eggs.
"People here, every afternoon, go to the rapids or sand dunes where chives grow to cast nets to catch fish when the tide rises," said Mr. Trong.
Fish species take refuge inshore near the seaweed beds.
Many species of seafood lie on the seaweed when the tide goes out.
Seaweed growing on sand dunes looks like a natural painting.
The sea water in Ly Son island is clear enough to see the bottom.
Some fish species come close to the shore to lay eggs, when the young fish grow up they will go out to sea.
This season in Ly Son, the tide recedes in the morning and rises again at noon, the clumps of chives will be completely submerged in seawater.
