Police extinguish large fire at Tam Nong food market

The fire broke out late on August 15 at Tam Nong food market (Hamlet 2, Tram Chim commune, Dong Thap province) and quickly engulfed and damaged property inside 31 kiosks.

According to initial information, at around 9:50 p.m. on August 15, Tram Chim Commune Police ( Dong Thap Province) received a report of a fire at Tam Nong Food Market on Tran Hung Dao Street. The Commune Police urgently mobilized about 40 officers, soldiers and forces participating in protecting security and order at the facility, along with firefighting vehicles and equipment to the scene to organize fire fighting.

At the time of the incident, the kiosks inside the market contained flammable materials due to the grocery and plastic business, so the fire broke out strongly and quickly engulfed the area.

The Commune Military Command, Militia and local people were mobilized to participate in fire fighting. Tram Chim Commune Police requested Tram Chim National Park, Phu Cuong Commune Police, Tam Nong Commune Police (neighboring communes) to support the mobilization of about 40 officers, soldiers and fire fighting equipment.

Immediately upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department mobilized the Fire Fighting Teams of Hong Ngu and Cao Lanh areas, Traffic Police Team No. 3, Tam Nong Detention Camp and Evidence Warehouse Management to mobilize about 80 more officers, soldiers and vehicles to participate in fire fighting.

After nearly 30 minutes of deployment and active fire fighting, by 22:15 the same day, the fire was basically controlled and prevented from spreading to other areas. The task force continued to spray water to cool and extinguish small fires in the kiosks inside the food market, preventing the fire from flaring up again.

According to initial reports, the fire caused no casualties, and property damage inside 31 kiosks, of which 10 kiosks were severely damaged. The cause of the fire is being investigated by authorities, and property damage caused by the fire is being estimated.
