The Ministry of Education and Training has organized a review and evaluation of the implementation to ensure that it is suitable for practice and meets the requirements of educational development through each stage.
Reviewing, evaluating and adjusting some contents of the 2018 General Education Program is a regular and periodic task of the Ministry of Education and Training to better meet the requirements of innovation and socio -economic development of the country. In 2025, the review of the program and textbooks will be carried out in the context of the whole country implementing the arrangement of administrative units according to Resolution 202/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly.
Based on the review, the Ministry of Education and Training identified a number of subjects that are directly affected by the change of administrative boundaries, including History and Geography for grades 4, 5, and 9; History and Economic and Legal Education for grade 10. These subjects are subject to steps according to regulations to revise the subject program, which serves as a basis for adjusting textbooks, such as updating requirements, knowledge content, place names, data, maps, charts, and socio-economic information.
Based on the Ministry of Education and Training's guidance on the proposed revisions, in early August, many schools proactively disseminated them in the professional council meetings at the beginning of the school year so that teachers could proactively review documents, update and supplement knowledge in the process of developing teaching plans. The initiative from educational institutions in reviewing, adjusting and updating information aims to ensure the quality of education, without necessarily having to wait for textbooks to be reprinted when the new school year is approaching.
However, subjects that need to be adjusted and updated with a lot of information such as History, Geography, Economic Education and Law must still be carefully reviewed, with the participation of textbook authors to ensure accuracy, science and continuity, without breaking the knowledge chain. After completing the updating and adjustment, it is necessary to organize training for teachers to create consistency and system.
The revision of information in textbooks is an important event. It is not only a technical task, but also a way to convey to students a better understanding of the country's changes, update the latest administrative geographical information; reflect the new organizational structure of the local government apparatus, avoid confusing students.
The 2018 General Education Program reflects the goals of general education, ensuring a unified orientation and core, mandatory content for students. Unlike before, textbooks are no longer "ordinances" but specify the content of the program, are important learning materials and documents for schools to choose to organize teaching. Teachers and schools are given the right to proactively arrange learning topics, update and supplement content to suit students, teaching and learning conditions and practical conditions.
Receiving comments from the Departments of Education and Training on the draft revised curriculum of a number of subjects, the Ministry of Education and Training also advocates strengthening guidance so that teachers and schools can proactively implement the curriculum according to their authority to suit reality. In particular, priority must be given to accuracy but not to the detriment of students' rights, especially in exams.
