Update the latest knowledge on corneal mapping at the Ophthalmology Conference 2025

Within the framework of the Ophthalmology Conference 2025, the CME training course "Computerized tomography - In-depth corneal mapping" shared many new updated knowledge about ophthalmology for doctors, experts and students.

A lot of ophthalmological knowledge was shared at the Ophthalmology 2025 Conference.

The Ophthalmology Conference 2025 was held for the first time with comprehensive cooperation between the Central Eye Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital on August 8-9 in Hanoi, attracting the participation of nearly 1,500 doctors, nurses, technicians from ophthalmology facilities nationwide and many international ophthalmology experts from countries such as the United States, India, Hungary, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, etc.

The conference is a prestigious scientific forum to share the latest advances in ophthalmology, technological applications in ophthalmology, treatment experiences, hospital management, find optimal solutions in eye care and protection, contributing to the realization of Vietnam's Vision goals by 2030.

The Ophthalmology Conference 2025 also organizes new knowledge updates through courses and specialized training in 4 areas: Children's eyes; Glaucoma; Diagnostic imaging, testing and cornea-related issues (corneal mapping) for students who are doctors, technicians, and nurses specializing in ophthalmology.

Within the framework of the conference, the CME training course “Computerized Tomography - Advanced Corneal Mapping” shared a lot of updated knowledge about ophthalmology for ophthalmologists, refractive-cataract surgeons, and refractive specialists from many provinces and cities across the country.

The highlight of the class was the knowledge sharing session by Dr. Cristina Angelica A. Tan (Philippines) – an international expert in the field of cornea, ocular surface diseases, refractive surgery and cataracts. Dr. Tan is currently a senior consultant at the Eye and Vision Institute – The Medical City and a senior expert in the Asia-Pacific region of Oculus®.

In the presentation, Dr. Tan introduced a series of typical clinical cases, detailed analysis of assessment criteria and risk factors, especially the technique of selecting suitable patients for multifocal IOLs based on Pentacam AXL Wave data.

She also emphasized the importance of corneal biomechanical analysis using Corvis ST to limit complications and optimize postoperative visual outcomes.

Along with the update of advanced diagnostic technologies, the trend of using high-end intraocular lenses (IOLs) was also an important highlight in the class. Through visual clinical cases, Dr. Cristina Tan shared her experience in selecting and personalizing IOLs based on accurate data from Pentacam AXL Wave – especially in complex surgeries or requiring high-quality postoperative vision.
