Kissing Bridge in operation

Kien Giang Kiss Bridge in Sunset Town was inauguratedby Sun Group on December 22, expected to become a new symbol for Phu Quoc tourism.

The bridge was designed by Italian architect Marco Casamonti, inspired by Michelangelo's painting The Creation of Adam and the O Thuc bridge in the legend of Ong Ngau and Ba Ngau. The Kissing Bridge consists of two branches, the North and the South, with a total length of 800 m, forming a unified whole but not touching, but 30 cm apart. According to the design unit, this distance is just right for a hug, a handshake or a kiss. This distance was calculated by the architect so that on January 1st every year, the sunset will fall right in the middle of the two bridgeheads.

The Kissing Bridge has a conson span (a horizontal bridge structure, fixed at one end and free at the other) of up to 25m, on a 65-degree inclined pillar. The total weight of the conson structure on each side is up to 400 tons. With this inclined pillar structure, the Kissing Bridge creates the first sea walking bridge in Vietnam, expected to become a tourism symbol, attracting domestic and international tourists.

According to Sun Group, the bridge's nose uses clear glass, with 96% transparency, compared to the usual 70%, creating a sense of "invisibility" for the glass layer. The Dynamics LED lighting system allows for soft, free-flowing lighting effects like flames.

Mr. Huynh Quang Hung, Chairman of Phu Quoc City People's Committee, said that the Kissing Bridge has a special design, and is considered by the city as a symbol of fine arts and construction techniques. "We hope that the Kissing Bridge will bring Phu Quoc to the world and become a reason for tourists to long to come to the Pearl Island to see the unique architectural work with their own eyes, just like the Golden Bridge has done for Vietnam tourism," Mr. Hung shared.

Launched during the year-end festival season, Cau Hon is a piece in the complex of works on Hoang Hon Bay created by Sun Group, including the multimedia technology show stage system "Kiss of the Sea", with a total investment of more than 3,400 billion VND.

The show "Kiss of the Sea" with a 7-minute fireworks display every night was just launched on December 21. The bridge, along with the show "Kiss of the Sea", the night market by the sea Vui Phet (VUI-Fest Bazaar), and the hotel La Festa Phu Quoc - Curio Collection by Hilton are expected by Sun Group to help Phu Quoc become a vibrant destination all year round.
