On the evening of July 17, U23 Vietnam continued to return to the training ground, urgently completing the final preparations for the opening match at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. This training session is very important for the team, it is an opportunity to review and evaluate the overall personnel and tactics that will be applied for the match with U23 Laos on July 19. Coach Kim Sang Sik directly manages the entire training session's lesson plan.
The Korean coach constantly urged his players, ready to stop training sessions to promptly correct technical details, and at the same time test some alternative options for the position of striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan - who unfortunately suffered an injury and had to leave the tournament.
Striker Quoc Viet is expected in this tournament. Midfielder Nguyen Phi Hoang - one of the players who participated in the U23 Vietnam team that won the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, said: "This is the second time I have participated in the tournament and every time I gather, I set a goal to win the championship. The second time is just like the first time, U23 Vietnam aims for the best results, determined to bring the Championship Cup back to the fans." Referring to Thanh Nhan's absence due to injury, Phi Hoang shared: "Everyone on the team is important, Thanh Nhan's injury is a pity. Hopefully Nhan will return soon, because there are still many important tournaments ahead." U23 Vietnam actively prepares for the opening match. According to plan, on July 18, U23 Vietnam will have one more training session before entering the opening match in Group B against U23 Laos on July 19. Coach Kim Sang Sik is confident in the ability of U23 Vietnam to win the championship for the third consecutive time.
