The Lagerstroemia tree, located on the road leading to Ke village, Lam Hoa commune, is hundreds of years old and is protected by the locals, considered a treasure of the village. In early summer, the tree blooms, opening light purple buds, gently showing off its color, creating a romantic and charming beauty.

Local authorities said this is a naturally growing forest tree, protected by local people and still exists today.

The tree is about 40m tall, with lush branches and leaves, and a base diameter of about 2m. At a height of more than 2m from the ground, the tree splits into two trunks and many branches spread out in all directions. This is also a rare and almost unique Lagerstroemia tree in Quang Binh that reaches this size and age.

Groups of young people who love backpacking and exploring have also planned to experience the giant banyan tree when it is in full bloom.

Village elder Cao Van Ngu, in Ke village, said that for the Ma Lieng people (Chut ethnic group), ancient trees are where the forest gods reside, so no one is allowed to touch them. That is also the reason why the above mentioned Lagerstroemia tree has not been cut down or damaged.

The ancient Lagerstroemia tree in Ke village is not only rich in biology but also deeply attached to the life and soul of the people here. The tree has also become a symbol of longevity, the connection between people and nature.

Mr. Dinh Van Bac, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Hoa Commune Party Committee, said that with its unique beauty and profound meaning, this ancient Lagerstroemia tree will become an indispensable part of the culture and life of the Ma Lieng people. "This will also be an important highlight for tourists when they set foot on this land," Mr. Bac said.
