According to a filing recently filed by Nvidia with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the corporation said that Mr. Jensen Huang's annual base salary has been increased by 49% compared to 2024, to $1.5 million.
This base salary applies to Nvidia's 2025 fiscal year, which ended on January 26.
This is the first time the Nvidia founder and CEO has received a raise. The last time was in 2015, when he got a 19% raise to $998,000.
A committee that oversees compensation and back pay for Nvidia's board of directors explained the new increase is in line with about 75% of similar companies.
According to Yahoo! Finance , with this salary, Mr. Huang received a salary almost equal to that of other CEOs in the chip manufacturing industry, Hock Tan of Broadcom (AVGO) and Lisa Su of AMD.
However, salary is only a small part of the income of high-ranking technology CEOs.
Although Mr. Huang had a lower base salary than Microsoft's Satya Nadella and Apple's Tim Cook in fiscal 2024, the latest year for which data is available for all three, the Nvidia boss earned more than them in total compensation.
Mr Huang's net pay is $234 million for fiscal year 2024, while Mr Nadella and Mr Cook will receive $171 million and $169 million, respectively.
This was also the year Nvidia saw a boom, turning the company into one of the most valuable corporations in the world thanks to GPUs for artificial intelligence.
The company’s stock price has risen more than ninefold from the end of 2022 to the end of last year. Huang’s roughly 3.5% stake is now worth about $94 billion.
