Ho Chi Minh City FC replaced striker Paul Georges Ntep with Wander Luiz in the registration list on the VPF homepage. The former French player only scored 1 goal in 10 matches this season and had to leave to make room for the Brazilian striker who has fought in the V-League for many years.

Before disappointing at Ho Chi Minh City Club, Ntep was one of the foreign players with the most impressive resume before the 2023/2024 V-League. This striker had fought for many years in Europe, played 2 friendly matches for the French national team and then chose to contribute to the Cameroon national team.

On the other hand, Wander Luiz has played for Long An, Quang Nam, Can Tho and Binh Duong in the past. This striker helped Quang Nam win the 2017 National Super Cup.

After leaving Vietnam in 2020, Wander Luiz went to Indonesia to play for Persib Bandung, PSS Sleman and RANS Nusantara, then briefly returned to his home country Brazil to play for Desportiva Ferroviária. In 2023, Wander Luiz returned to Southeast Asia and joined Chanthaburi in Thai League 2. The striker scored 10 goals and had 1 assist in 21 matches for Chanthaburi before returning to the V-League to play for Ho Chi Minh City Club.
