To ease his parents' worries about university expenses, Le Van Thang, who recently graduated as valedictorian of the Development Economics major at the University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi ), has made efforts in studying, participating in movement activities... to qualify for an incentive scholarship for 8 semesters worth more than 150 million VND.
Since childhood, when he saw his parents working hard in the fields, Thang told himself that he would study hard. Because he loved and was quite sensitive to issues related to business trends, Thang chose the field of economic development. Right from the first days of entering university, Thang focused all his ability on studying, researching, and practicing to receive a scholarship to support his parents. "My parents are farmers, my sister is a worker, their income is just enough to live on. If I had to worry about my own tuition fees, it would be very difficult," Thang shared.

Thang said that time is very precious, so when starting a subject, he will concentrate highly. This young man practices his ability to memorize and understand lessons from class so that he does not have to cram when the exam is near. "There are many subjects in a semester, you cannot wait until the last minute to jump. I will create a mind map, connecting the knowledge of related subjects together. From there, when learning knowledge of this subject, I will also remember the content of similar subjects," Thang shared. During his 8 semesters of university, Thang always received scholarships. The highest was 26 million VND and the lowest was 21 million VND, all the scholarship money Thang transferred back to his hometown for his mother to save for tuition. In addition, Thang also received scholarships outside the system such as: Nitori International Foundation Scholarship Program (Japan), IMG Foundation Scholarship "Lighting up Vietnamese Talents" awarded by IMG Investment Joint Stock Company... At the end of the second year of university, Thang taught math, microeconomics... to take care of himself in daily life without having to ask his parents for money. "I am a farmer's son, I am used to hardship, so being independent in a new environment is not a problem. In the curriculum, there will be subjects taught in English such as: international economics, in-depth development economics... so I had difficulty receiving theory. I am not good at English, but in return, I was very focused, spending more time studying documents, with the motto of hard work makes up for intelligence", Thang shared. While working part-time and being active in movement activities and scientific research such as participating in the 2023 National Student Math Olympiad...
