Professor Alexey Ustinov is currently the Director of the Laboratory of Superconducting Quantum Technologies at the National University of Science and Technology, Russian Federation (MISiS).
He is known as one of the pioneer scientists in the research of superconducting qubits - the core foundation of quantum computing technology. He has also initiated and successfully implemented many important works on Josephson circuits, quantum solitons and new generation superconducting materials, which are highly appreciated by the international scientific community.
He received a Mega Grant from the Russian Government (2011, worth 3.5 million euros) to build the “Superconducting Metamaterials” laboratory at MISiS; won the Google Faculty Research Award (2017) in the field of quantum computing; and many other prestigious international awards. His works have contributed to shaping the direction of research on quantum coherence at the macroscopic scale and developing advanced quantum measurement and telecommunications technology.

At the invitation of Director of Hanoi National University Le Quan, Professor Alexey Ustinov expressed his honor to be proposed as the Honorary Director of the Institute of Quantum Technology. He emphasized that this will be an interesting experience, especially when MISiS and Hanoi National University have an official cooperation plan in the field of quantum technology - one of the leading fields of science and technology in the world.
As Honorary Director of the Institute of Quantum Technology, Prof. Ustinov will participate in directing research strategies, advising on the development of key laboratories, and connecting the Institute with the world's leading quantum research centers.
He also expressed his desire to promote the research and training cooperation network with Hanoi National University, while facilitating the exchange of students and researchers as well as implementing joint projects between the two universities.
