"Greetings to liberated Binh Thuan"

- In April 1975, an atmosphere of heroism and fervor, with people eagerly awaiting news of victory in the South, spread throughout Tuyen Quang province. From Tuyen Quang town to the remote ethnic minority villages, from government offices to every family in the province, everyone's attention was focused on their beloved South, every hour, every minute. Especially when people heard on the radio about the rapid advance of our main army units preparing to liberate Binh Thuan province, a sister province of Tuyen Quang since 1960, everyone held their breath and watched intently.

Composer Dinh Quang Minh showed reporters the song "Greetings to Liberated Binh Thuan" .

On the afternoon of April 18, 1975, composer Dinh Quang Minh, then working at the Tuyen Quang Provincial Department of Culture, was also restless and excited. Every now and then, he would turn on the radio to listen to news from the Southern front. That night, in his private house on Xuan Hoa Street in Tuyen Quang town, he couldn't sleep at all; his emotions were overflowing. With the responsibility of an artist, he immediately composed the song "Greetings to Liberated Binh Thuan" with all the feelings of "fraternal affection" for his home province. After a sleepless night, the song was born, the words flowing naturally with emotion.

The following morning, April 19, 1975, he took the new song and hand-copied 20 copies, giving them to 20 people in the Le Loi area of Tan Quang ward to practice singing. In just 45 minutes, the song was perfected and ready to be performed, celebrating the liberation of their sister province, Binh Thuan, on April 19, 1975. That evening, at the Tuyen Quang town cultural center, the group performance of "Greetings to Liberated Binh Thuan" resonated majestically and proudly. After the performance at the cultural center, the performing arts group went on to perform in the streets and public areas of Tuyen Quang town, amidst the cheers and applause of officials and the people.

The song "Greetings to the Liberation of Binh Thuan".

The lyrics of the song "Greetings to Liberated Binh Thuan" by the author express excitement, brightness, and pride. According to musician Dinh Quang Minh, a member of the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, this song is very suitable for choral singing, with the resounding melody of an army marching to battle: " Oh Binh Thuan!/When we hear the news of victory, our hearts are filled with emotion/Oh Binh Thuan!/Tuyen Quang has been waiting day and night, and now you have risen up with the South to liberate our homeland/Sweeping away the American and puppet forces, ending the dark night of life. Oh Binh Thuan! Gaining independence and freedom, how proud we are that our homeland has risen up/The red flag flies high, the country is full of flowers, the two regions are peaceful for generations, the hearts of the people of Binh Thuan and Tuyen Quang/Steadily marching forward under the high-flying red flag ."

The second rhythm of the song surges: “ The hearts of the people of Tuyen Quang are overflowing with excitement like the surging waves of the sea/ Oh Binh Thuan! Chase away the dark clouds, let our sky shine brightly, our North-South love is one, harmoniously following Uncle Ho/ After a life of suffering, hardship, and bitterness, now Binh Thuan rises up to win prosperity for generations to come. Binh Thuan and Tuyen Quang stand side by side forever, no longer separated. Binh Thuan and Tuyen Quang/ Steadfastly march forward under the high-flying red flag .”

Later, the song "Greetings to Liberated Binh Thuan" was practiced, staged, and performed by the province's media outlets, cultural groups, schools, and residential areas, expressing their affection for the brotherly province of Binh Thuan.

Every year on April 19th, the Liberation Day of Binh Thuan province, musician Dinh Quang Minh embraces his guitar and sings this song aloud.

On this very day, April 19, 2025, composer Dinh Quang Minh was deeply moved as he recalled the 50th anniversary of his 83rd birthday. He searched his cupboard and found a collection of 75 selected songs from his book, "Tuyen Quang, Brilliant with Faith," published by Dan Tri Publishing House in 2017. Among them was the song "Greetings to Liberated Binh Thuan," which he showed to the reporter. The composer said he was aware of the provincial merger, but in each province, the place names – street names, school names, market names – bearing the name "Tuyen Quang-Binh Thuan" still remain, reminding us of our historical traditions and the loyal, unwavering bond of brotherhood.

Composer Dinh Quang Minh is a veteran musician of Tuyen Quang province. He is also known for his collection of songs "Childhood in Tan Trao". For his contributions, composer Dinh Quang Minh was awarded the Tan Trao Prize for Literature and Arts in 2016 by the province. This is well-deserved recognition for his tireless efforts and dedication.
