(QNO) - The historic month of July returns with many memories of those who sacrificed themselves for the revolution and the country. As a son of Binh Sa commune (Thang Binh), we deeply admire the honest and loyal soldier in peacetime - Lieutenant General Chau Van Man, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, former Deputy Director General, General Department of Construction of the Public Security Forces, Ministry of Public Security .
Unforgettable years
Lieutenant General Chau Van Man's real name is Chau Van Dep, born on August 11, 1950. He was born and raised in a family with a rich revolutionary tradition in Binh Sa, Thang Binh.
In the 60s, when he was still a teenager, he was enlightened early and joined the revolution as a liaison, collecting and transmitting intelligence information for the revolution. He was directly entrusted by his superiors with the task of delivering secret letters to serve the revolution. During those years, he completed his mission excellently. The communication line was exposed, in April 1970, he was arrested and imprisoned in Con Dao prison.
Here, the enemy had hundreds and thousands of cruel torture schemes to exploit information and track down revolutionaries that he had learned about during his time as a liaison. But with the indomitable spirit of a communist, he absolutely refused to reveal anything to preserve the communication line as well as the lives of his comrades fighting outside. The enemy's brutal beatings were constantly poured on him, his body was left with no intact spot... Yet in prison, he and his comrades continued to write newspapers and fight politically against the enemy. Demanding the release of prisoners, demanding freedom, calling on prisoners to absolutely not reveal anything harmful to the revolution, to unite and fight until the day of liberation. And that day has come - the day of complete liberation of the South, reunification of the country on April 30, 1975.
His first task after liberation was to guard the gate for a security unit in Con Dao at that time. With his honest nature, hard-working and diligent in work and study, this war invalid was trusted by his superiors to be assigned tasks and given the opportunity to study and train at public security schools. Then, he was trusted by the Party, the State and the Ministry of Public Security to hold the position of Colonel, Director of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police and a National Assembly Delegate of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Due to his many glorious achievements, he was transferred to the capital by the Ministry of Public Security, holding the position of Deputy Director General of the General Department of Public Security Force Construction, Ministry of Public Security and was awarded the rank of Lieutenant General.
On October 17, 2011, Mr. Chau Van Man was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State. After many years of participating in the revolution and working in the police force, in 2011, Lieutenant General Chau Van Man - Hero of the People's Armed Forces retired .
Wholeheartedly for the homeland…
Returning to normal life, he should have rested and lived a peaceful life with his children and grandchildren after many years of separation and hardship. But with the spirit of a loyal and patriotic former prisoner of Con Dao, although he was infected with Agent Orange, a 2/4 war invalid, and in poor health, he still had many worries and concerns about his homeland, Binh Sa - where he was born and raised.
His biggest concern is that in his hometown, families with meritorious services to the revolution are facing many difficulties in housing, and the place to worship heroes and martyrs is not yet thoughtful. Then there are the lonely elderly without a place to live, students going to school without books and means of transportation, rickety schools that cannot protect them from the sun and rain, lack of teaching equipment, and the villagers do not have a cultural house...
He joined hands with the local government to call for investors and philanthropists who are well-off businesses across the country.
Lieutenant General Chau Van Man has taken from his pension and called for the construction of more than 20 gratitude houses for policy beneficiaries and dilapidated houses for single-parent households with housing difficulties.
Build 2 memorial steles for heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Chau Khe village worth more than 1 billion VND. Call on the Oil and Gas Group, Agribank, Lien Viet Bank, and the People's Police Newspaper to build more than 30 classrooms for 3 levels of education in the commune, invest in computer rooms for Chu Van An Secondary School and Tran Phu Primary School worth more than 5 billion VND.
Building the first cultural house of the commune in Chau Khe village with more than 300 million VND; building more than 1.2km of concretized rural traffic in Chau Khe village.
Provide financial support to the local government to renovate and propose recognition of two provincial-level historical relics, the Tien Hien Temple and Tien Hien Tomb of Tien Chau village in Chau Khe hamlet, and propose recognition of three fig trees at the Tien Hien Temple of Tien Chau village as heritage trees...
In peacetime, General Chau Van Man lived a very simple life and was close to the people. He cared a lot about the elderly, the lonely, and the children. Every year, when Tet came, he brought gifts to poor households in the whole commune to welcome the spring. Every time he visited, he gave clothes and candy to the children of Binh Sa Kindergarten, and bicycles to the secondary school students who went to school far away from their families and had financial difficulties.
For nearly 15 years, he has maintained the award of 700,000 VND for the best student in the block and 500,000 VND for the best student in the class. In addition, he also gives many awards to students with achievements and prizes in competitions for excellent students in the district and province.
People in Binh Sa commune, from young students to the elderly, all loved the general who devoted himself to his homeland. They affectionately called him by his childhood nickname, Mr. Ba Dep.
During the village holidays and memorial services, he was always present, having simple and intimate meals with the villagers. The people of Binh Sa happily said to each other: "I wish our village had a few men like Mr. Man".
I am a native son, working in education in the commune, also a son of Binh Sa, who respects and loves the sincere general, wholeheartedly devoted to his homeland. I am proud that my homeland has given birth to such a son, I hope he has good health to continue contributing to his homeland, building Binh Sa homeland to be more and more beautiful.
