A young man in China has been sued by his mother for spending more than 200,000 yuan (equivalent to more than 660 million VND) to buy a new car for his girlfriend. This is part of the total amount she saved to pay for her son's future tuition.

A woman surnamed Liu (41 years old - Sichuan province, China) raised her son Xiaowei (19 years old) alone after her divorce. To prepare for her son's future, Ms. Liu deposited all of her savings of 500,000 yuan under Xiaowei's name, in case she remarried in the future, she would avoid her new husband asking for a share of this money.

Before putting the money in savings, she told her son to save it for his future study abroad expenses. She also promised to save more if he studied hard.

At the time of depositing the money, Liu kept the bank passbook because her son was too young to be responsible for it. When he entered university, she gave him the passbook to manage himself.

However, not long after, she was shocked when the bank announced that her son had secretly withdrawn all the money from his savings account to give to his girlfriend. This girlfriend spent 200,000 yuan (more than 663 million VND) to buy a new car as a gift from her lover.

Liu was heartbroken and asked his son to return the remaining 300,000 yuan (more than 1 billion VND). However, Xiaowei refused, saying that the money was in his savings account.

Liu was so upset that she had to sue her son. The Sichuan Mianyang Fuchen People's Court accepted the case and mediated a settlement between mother and son.

After months of court proceedings and mediation, Xiaowei realized that the large sum of money was saved for his education, not a free gift. As for Liu, the court also convinced her to understand her son's desire to live independently.

The mother and daughter reached an agreement through mediation, and Xiaowei returned the remaining money to her mother. Liu also continued to pay Xiaowei's tuition and monthly living expenses.

Upon hearing this story, the community felt pity for the mother’s sacrifice for her thoughtless son. “What a pitiful mother, losing both money and her son,” a user on Douyin shared.

“If I were the mother, I would stop spending money on my child and focus on my own life. Adult children need to be responsible for themselves,” said another.

“What a thoughtless child, not knowing how to appreciate his mother's love for him,” another person commented on this rare incident.
