Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên06/11/2023

On November 3, the workshop "Building and implementing policies to promote responsible business practices - EU experience and practice in Vietnam - Participation of businesses and social organizations" held in Hanoi attracted the participation of many experts, lawyers, representatives of international organizations and domestic and foreign businesses.

Responsible Business Practice (RBP) is an important content to achieve the dual goals of economic growth and sustainable development. The United Nations has published the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), to promote RBP on a global scale and to support countries to concretize them into their own national action programs.

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Justice has issued the National Action Program to improve policies and laws to promote responsible business practices for the period 2023-2027 (Decision 843/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated July 10, 2023).

Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy, Director of Sustainable Development of TH Group, shares responsible business practices at the Group.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy, Director of Sustainable Development of TH Group, At TH, Responsible Business is defined in a very special way. It is closely linked to the Founder's guiding ideology and actual existence in the Group's business strategy.

"Therefore, from the vision, orientation, and core values of TH Group, we have built a sustainable development strategy including 6 important pillars: Nutrition - Health, Environment, Education, People, Community, and Animal Welfare. Sustainable development is implemented in all of our business and production activities," said Ms. Thuy.

Highlighting responsible business practices in the environmental field

In the field of environment, from the motto "Cherish Mother Nature", TH identifies "Environmental friendliness" as a core value of TH and TH products. The pillar "Environment" is one of the 6 pillars of sustainable development policy. Green economy, circular economy, emission reduction, and the goal of Vietnam's Net Zero are concretized into specific actions in each working process at all TH farms and factories.

"In reducing the use of plastic in production and consumption, we follow three main initiatives: Replace, Reduce and Recycle," Ms. Thuy cited.

Collecting milk packaging has become an annual activity of TH to create a habit of reducing waste and increasing recycling among consumers.

TH is a founding member of organizations such as the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PRO Vietnam), the Vietnam Business Alliance for the Environment (VB4E), and has implemented many solutions to reduce plastic, such as reducing 50% of the amount of disposable yogurt spoons supplied to the market with TH true YOGURT yogurt products; removing plastic shrink wrap on the lids of TH true WATER purified water products;...

TH reduces the thickness of bottle labels, contributing to reducing plastic waste

"At the Nui Tien Pure Water, Herbal and Fruit Factory of TH Group, we have run a production line for pure water bottles weighing only 12 grams of plastic. We have invested and improved technology to minimize the amount of plastic used while still meeting the highest standards for food and beverage packaging. Currently, on average, the factory will reduce more than 500 tons of plastic per year for all product lines thanks to the application of proactive plastic reduction solutions, thereby contributing to reducing emissions and plastic waste in the environment," Ms. Thuy informed.

TH Group has also proactively transformed into a green company with a series of initiatives to develop sustainable clean energy sources. Now, the rooftops covered with solar panels of the TH true MILK dairy farm cluster have become the largest producer of "clean" electricity in Nghe An province.

After 3 years of operation, the solar panel system has produced 7 million kWh per year. According to calculations, the energy converted from light energy to electricity by this system helps TH reduce emissions equivalent to about 4,500 tons of CO2 / year.

Solar energy from TH's farms and factories is currently equivalent to reducing 4,500 tons of CO2 emissions per year; TH continues to promote investment in clean energy in the future.

Over the years, TH Group has also proactively researched and applied solutions and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as save electricity for the country. Notably, the practice of switching from incandescent lamps to LED lamps has helped save 5,000,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to reducing approximately 4,000 tons of CO 2 . This initiative won the Encouragement Prize. "2022 Industry Energy Efficiency Award" and the award "On the application of new energy-efficient technology" awarded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Not only environmental factors, responsible business practices at TH Group are also demonstrated through creating a transparent and fair working environment for employees as well as creating livelihoods for people in localities where TH projects are located.
