Russia enters Stepovoye, the most important stronghold northwest of Avdiivka is about to collapse
According to the Geroman channel, the Russian assault group broke through the Ukrainian defenses on the outskirts of Stepovoy, entering the center of the settlement.
Ukrainian media channels confirmed the Russian advance in the Stepovoy (Petrovsky) area. The enemy bypassed Stepove from the north, crossed the western railway, confidently gaining a foothold, creating a springboard for further advances.
According to Ayden channel, some Russian sources claim that Moscow forces have crossed the railway line near Stepove, have fortified their positions in the tree line near the town. This is a bad development for Ukraine near Avdiivka.
If Russia really controls the village of Stepove, the most important base guarding northern Adviivka in Ukraine will collapse, this failure could have a domino effect on the next series of strongholds.
In the southern region, fighting continues in southern Severnoe and Avdiivka.

Russia attacks simultaneously on many fronts
According to Rybar channel, in the Kupyansk region, in the direction of Starobel, fierce fighting continues near Petropavlovka and on the northern approaches to Sinkovka, but there are no significant changes in the front line. In the south, Russia attacked Ukraine near Novoselovskoe, capturing a number of enemy soldiers.
In the direction of Soledar , Russia continued its counterattack near Kleshchiivka, crossed the railway, holding out on the eastern outskirts of the completely destroyed village. At the same time, the situation near Andriivka remains unclear, fighting is ongoing.
In the Vremevsk area, the situation did not change, while in the Orekhov area, the Ukrainian formation, with the support of armored vehicles, once again tried to advance to the Rabotino - Verbovoe line, but was detected early, and Russian artillery and anti-tank missiles opened fire to stop it. At least two Ukrainian armored vehicles were destroyed, forcing Kiev forces to return to the starting line.
In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian marines continue to hold positions in Krynki, and are also trying to advance through the road to the south and southwest. Russia is responding with heavy fire, but without additional forces, it will be extremely difficult to eliminate the Ukrainian bridgehead.
In the west, Ukraine tried to advance towards Peschanovka and Podstepnoe, but Russian fire prevented it. At present, the situation suggests that the Ukrainian command is ready to send forces and armored vehicles across the Dnieper River when it becomes possible to expand the bridgehead.

Russia continues to attack Avdiivka from 3 directions
Kyiv Independent reported that Ruslan Muzychuk, spokesman for the National Guard of Ukraine, said on November 9 that Russia continued to attack Avdiivka from three different directions.
Russia is trying to surround the fortified industrial city bordering the capital of the Moscow-controlled Donetsk region using a variety of tactics.
Mr. Muzychuk also said that recently, when attacking, Russia has used fewer armored vehicles, possibly due to worsening weather conditions or the fact that a significant amount of Russian armor has been destroyed.
There have been nearly 80 Russian strikes in the area in the past 24 hours. Mr. Muzychuk said both sides are deploying a large number of UAVs.
The battle for Avdiivka has taken a heavy toll on Russian forces. Ukraine’s 47th Mechanized Brigade said on November 6 that up to 7,000 Russian soldiers had been killed or wounded there, and hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles had been destroyed.
The battle for Avdiivka shows Russia's inability to learn from past mistakes, the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said on November 1.
“Avdiivka is a microcosm of the broader failure of the Russian General Staff to absorb and disseminate the hard-won lessons from previous failed offensive efforts in Ukraine,” ISW analysts said.

In the Kherson direction, the Zolotaya Balka, Tokarevka, Ponyatovka areas as well as the city of Kherson were bombarded by Russian artillery.
At the same time, Ukraine continued to conduct offensive operations in the direction of Melitopo and Bakhmut, causing losses to Russian forces in terms of manpower and equipment, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

Pentagon: Defense aid package for Ukraine will be smaller
The United States will continue to provide defense assistance to Ukraine under the Presidential Authorization in the coming period, it will simply be less, Ukrinform reported, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said. At the same time, the Pentagon called on Congress to approve additional funding as soon as possible.
“We will continue to deliver aid packages, they are getting smaller and smaller,” Ms. Singh said. “So we are asking Congress to approve the supplemental appropriations request that the president has sent, so that we can continue to meet Ukraine’s needs on the battlefield.”
She clarified estimates released by the White House a day earlier, noting that the US has used more than 95% of the total $62.3 billion allocated to support Ukraine since Russia began its special military operation.

UK Ministry of Defense: Russian military is overextended
The conflict in Ukraine is causing the Russian military to overextend itself, straining its ability to maintain a secure defense on its borders, the British Ministry of Defense said, according to the Guardian .
In its latest daily intelligence update posted to X, formerly Twitter, the ministry said Russia may need to redeploy air defense missile (SAM) systems from remote regions of Russia to maintain coverage of Ukrainian airspace, after the reported loss of several S-400 missile systems last week.
Russia has deployed SAMs in strategically important locations, such as around its borders. The UK Ministry of Defence update said that withdrawing the systems would almost certainly weaken Russia's air defences on its periphery.
According to the update, Russia's need to redeploy its strategic air defenses would "demonstrate that the Ukraine conflict continues to overextend Russia's military, undermining its ability to maintain basic defenses across its vast territory."
Ukraine: Global 'Peace Summit' Could Take Place Next Year
A global “peace summit” for Ukraine could take place in February 2024, according to a top Kiev official, Reuters reported.
Ihor Zhovkva, the Ukrainian president's top foreign affairs adviser, told Reuters that the country would arrange the fourth meeting of its national security advisory group for late November or early December "and the global summit could take place in February 2024".
“The summit will definitely take place, as it will mark the symbolic beginning of the practical implementation of the Ukrainian ‘peace formula’ and summarize all the results achieved.”
The peace formula is a 10-point plan that calls for restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity, withdrawing Russian troops, protecting food supplies, energy, nuclear safety and releasing all prisoners of war.
News of the summit comes as the West grows increasingly concerned that the war in Gaza is making it harder to win diplomatic support for Kiev's peace plan.
Talks on the peace formula will not include Russia, which has rejected the plan as unworkable.
Ukraine asks France to help strengthen air defenses before winter
During a meeting between the Defense Ministry leadership and the French parliamentary delegation, Kiev called on France to take the final step to strengthen air defense before winter and provide additional ammunition, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Stanislav Haider: "You have done amazing things for Ukraine, but we need one last joint step to strengthen Ukraine's air defense." At the same time, he noted that the air defense systems previously supplied by France have strengthened Ukraine.
In contrast, the Chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly, Pierre-Alexandre Anglade, said that Paris "stands firmly and permanently with Ukraine".
