Accordingly, the activities focus on promoting self-management of occupational safety and health (OSH) risks in a drastic manner. Although this year’s OSH Action Month did not have any unfortunate occupational accidents, there were still some accidents in the informal labor sector.
Common responsibility of the whole society
Occupational safety is a shared responsibility of the whole society - from workers, businesses to the surrounding community. Occupational accidents (OAs) and occupational diseases (ODs) are unwanted risks that workers may encounter during the work process.
Mr. Phan Dai Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, said: Work-related accidents and occupational diseases directly affect the health of workers, causing health deterioration, even disability and death. In addition, employers and business owners with workers who have work-related accidents must also be responsible for medical expenses, compensation and subsidies for them, not to mention the reputation of the business being affected, and production activities being interrupted. Therefore, each business needs to build a system of safety regulations suitable to the characteristics of production and working environment. Regular supervision, training and propaganda of safety regulations are mandatory. Workers also need to raise their awareness of self-protection, avoiding being subjective about potential risks during the work process.
Mr. To Duy Cuong, Director of Nhat Lam Company Limited shared: We are deeply aware that a safe working environment not only minimizes risks but also demonstrates respect and care for employees, which is a core factor in building a sustainable corporate culture. Therefore, the company always ensures adequate personal protective equipment, regularly organizes occupational safety and health training and creates safe working conditions for employees. In response to the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month, the company requires all employees to strictly comply and raise their sense of responsibility, with the goal of successfully building a culture of occupational safety.
Like many other companies and enterprises, An Hung Joint Stock Company pays special attention and is always proactive in ensuring safety for workers. Mr. Do Truong Thi, the administrative and human resources department of this enterprise, said: We focus on the main goal, which is training and labor safety. The provision of personal protective equipment to workers is fully implemented, and all teams have clear records and reports. Along with that, we have also coordinated with specialized agencies to strengthen propagandaand education on labor safety and hygiene, environmental protection; mobilize cadres, union members, and workers in the enterprise to actively participate in labor safety and hygiene, contributing to building a culture of labor safety and measures to prevent labor accidents and occupational diseases at the workplace. At the same time, specialized agencies coordinate with trade unions to maintain inspections of occupational safety and health and environmental protection in production areas to promptly detect and take measures to overcome safety risks in the working environment.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Thu Tam, a worker at Veston Enterprise (An Hung Joint Stock Company), the enterprise always creates conditions for workers and laborers to have a safe and effective working environment. Emulation movements are all aimed at strictly following technical procedures to ensure absolute safety for workers and equipment during the performance of tasks. The company and enterprise regularly open training classes on labor safety and fire prevention; maintain a routine of studying and checking safety procedures. Every day, the enterprise plays music for about 1 hour so that workers can relax, work comfortably, and create better work efficiency. Recently, in response to the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health in 2025, the enterprise has developed, issued a plan and organized activities to ensure safety for workers, preventing occupational accidents and traffic accidents.
Diversified and synchronized forms
According to the Department of Employment ( Ministry of Home Affairs ), the production and business sectors with many fatal occupational accidents include: mining and mineral exploitation, construction, construction materials production, mechanics - metallurgy, services, textiles - footwear. The main factors of injury that cause the most deaths are traffic accidents, collapses, falls from heights, flying objects, collisions and electric shock. The causes of occupational accidents and occupational diseases are very diverse. They can originate from employers, with common errors such as organizing work and working conditions, unsafe equipment; employers do not provide occupational safety training or inadequate training for employees; do not develop safe working procedures and measures. The causes can also originate from employees with errors such as violating occupational safety procedures and standards; not using personal protective equipment and safety equipment provided.
"Regardless of the cause, occupational accidents and diseases affect the health and lives of workers. Therefore, implementing good measures to prevent occupational accidents and diseases is the best way to protect the health and lives of workers," emphasized Mr. Huynh Kim Phat, Head of the Department of Labor and Employment (Department of Home Affairs).

Mr. Huynh Kim Phat, Head of Labor and Employment Department (Department of Home Affairs)
According to the guidance of the Ministry of Health, to prevent occupational accidents and diseases, workers and employers need to implement the following measures: Inspect machinery, equipment and materials with strict requirements on occupational safety before putting them into use and periodically inspect them during use by an organization that conducts occupational safety technical inspections. Ensuring the safe operation of machinery, equipment and materials not only ensures the lives and health of workers but also ensures a safe working environment, especially for construction works located at high altitudes or underground. Employers must annually develop plans and measures for occupational safety and hygiene and improve working conditions at the same time as developing production and business plans. This helps raise the awareness of employers and workers in preventing occupational accidents and diseases.
At the same time, employers must be responsible for organizing training on occupational safety and hygiene for employees, apprentices and trainees when recruiting and arranging labor; organizing working and resting hours, and assigning labor reasonably. Machinery and equipment must be suitable, not allowing employees to work in a constrained or overly stressful position. Conduct full and honest monitoring of the working environment and have solutions to control and limit dangerous and harmful factors.
In addition, employers must provide full information on the situation of occupational accidents, occupational diseases, dangerous and harmful factors and measures to ensure occupational safety and hygiene at the workplace for employees. Employees performing jobs with dangerous and toxic factors are fully equipped by employers with personal protective equipment (such as hats, hair covers to protect the head; earplugs, earmuffs to protect the ears...) that meet quality standards and must be used during work. Employers must organize health check-ups when recruiting employees to arrange suitable jobs according to occupational health standards; organize periodic health check-ups for employees; conduct examinations to detect and periodically examine occupational diseases for employees; organize first aid, emergency care, and rehabilitation for employees suffering from occupational accidents and diseases.
