President Vo Van Thuong arrives in San Francisco, begins working trip to the US

After more than 12 hours of flying, the plane carryingPresident Vo Van Thuong and his wife landed at San Francisco airport, beginning a four-day business trip to the United States.

At around 9:00 a.m. on November 14 (local time, 0:00 a.m. on November 15 Vietnam time), the plane carrying President Vo Van Thuong and his wife and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation landed at San Francisco International Airport, California (USA).

Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Nations Dang Hoang Giang and Vietnamese Consul General in San Francisco Hoang Anh Tuan welcomed President Vo Van Thuong and his wife.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper, representative of APEC 2023 Organizing Committee and many officials and staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco also welcomed the delegation.

This is President Vo Van Thuong's first trip to the US in his new position, taking place from November 14 to 17 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden.

During his stay in San Francisco, the President will attend activities within the framework of the APEC 2023 Summit Week, combining bilateral activities.

The President will attend the 30th APEC Summit with the theme "Connectivity and Resilient and Inclusive Economies " (November 17, US time), attend the Dialogue between Leaders and the APEC Business Advisory Council, and the Dialogue between APEC Leaders and Guests.

In particular, the Head of State will deliver a keynote speech at the APEC Business Summit (November 15, US time).

The event brings together more than 2,000 leaders of leading businesses in the world and in APEC. This will be an opportunity for the President to convey a strong message to the business community.

In addition, the Vietnamese delegation will attend all major activities of the APEC 2023 Summit Week, widely contact important partners in APEC and large business groups in the region.

President Vo Van Thuong will also have bilateral activities such as meetings with US officials, scholars and businesses to implement the agreements the two sides reached when deciding to upgrade to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

"President Vo Van Thuong's participation in APEC this year shows Vietnam's support for multilateralism in general, as well as for the APEC process in particular," Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung affirmed to the press before the trip.
