President of the Belgian Senate arrives in Hanoi, starting official visit to Vietnam

On the morning of August 21, President of the Belgian Senate Stéphanie D'Hose and the Belgian delegation arrived at Noi Bai Airport ( Hanoi ), starting an official visit to Vietnam from August 21-25 at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport were Chairwoman of the National Assembly 's Social Committee Nguyen Thuy Anh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Don Tuan Phong, and Director of the Institute for Legislative Studies under the National Assembly Standing Committee Nguyen Van Hien.

Vietnam and the Kingdom of Belgium established diplomatic relations in 1973. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two countries have continued to develop positively.

President of the Belgian Senate Stéphanie D'Hose is the highest-ranking Belgian politician to visit Vietnam in 2023.

This is also an occasion for the two countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (March 22, 1973 - March 22, 2023) and 5 years of Strategic Partnership in the field of agriculture.

The visit demonstrates the importance of the Belgian leadership in relations with Vietnam and follows the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in September 2021, aiming to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation as well as cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Belgian Parliament; strengthen coordination between the two countries at multilateral forums such as the United Nations, regional and international inter-parliamentary organizations.
