On the afternoon of October 9, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held a press conference on the province's socio-economic situation in the third quarter of 2024.

At the press conference, answering VietNamNet reporters about the work of preventing and combating corruption, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province Le Van Dung said that recently, the Steering Committee for preventing and combating corruption and negativity of the province has been very active, regularly holding periodic meetings and directing strongly, closely controlling and monitoring the prevention and combating of corruption and negativity in the area.

“When there is a report of a criminal case, it will be investigated and reviewed. If there are enough elements to constitute a crime, it will be prosecuted. Many cases have been brought to trial very strictly, with the right person, the right crime, and enough deterrence,” said Mr. Dung.

The Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee added that the transfer of positions of officials and civil servants in the area is also regularly carried out by the locality according to the regulations of the Provincial Party Committee. The transfer is carried out for those who have held the job for 5 consecutive years or when deemed necessary. This also contributes to preventing corruption and negativity in the area.

Proposal to review the responsibility of 142 groups and 253 individuals

According to the report on the province's anti-corruption and anti-negativity work before the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly , from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024, Quang Nam has transferred 402 cadres, civil servants and public employees to prevent corruption and negativity. This not only contributes to preventing negativity but also strengthens administrative reform, improves the quality of public service activities of civil servants and public employees, and creates a favorable environment for them to practice, promote and improve their working capacity.

At the same time, Quang Nam also organized 57 inspections of the responsibility for implementing the law on anti-corruption and negativity; thereby recommending handling of violations against 14 groups and 40 individuals.

In the first 9 months of 2024, Quang Nam organized 174 administrative inspections at 295 units, discovering violations of more than 32 billion VND and more than 10,200m2 of land. Thereby, it proposed to recover and pay to the budget more than 13 billion VND and more than 2,500m2 of land, and recommended to review the responsibilities of 142 collectives and 253 individuals.

At the same time, transfer the entire case file to the Provincial Police Investigation Agency in 1 case, transfer case information to the Provincial Police Investigation Agency in 3 cases and the Thang Binh District Police Investigation Agency in 1 case for consideration according to authority.

During the same period, authorities in Quang Nam province investigated, prosecuted, and tried corruption cases, discovering property damage due to corruption of more than VND 14.7 billion, and recovered more than VND 9.6 billion.

In order to effectively implement the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity in the province in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested agencies, units and localities to closely follow and seriously implement the tasks of preventing and combating corruption, promote the role of society and people; enhance the role of supervision and the quality of supervision in detecting and recovering corrupt assets, preventive solutions, and handling acts of corruption.

At the same time, direct agencies, units, and localities where corruption cases arise to handle party and administrative actions against agencies, organizations, and units that allow corruption to occur, based on the severity of the corruption case.
