Recently, many people in Buon Ma Thuot City have continuously reported that the clean water provided by Dakwaco Company is often weak and lacking, while water prices have increased dramatically, seriously affecting daily life.

On June 10, Mr. Vo Ngoc Tuyen, Director of the Department of Finance of Dak Lak province, signed a decision to establish an inspection team to inspect the implementation of clean water sales in Buon Ma Thuot city under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee. The inspection team consists of 10 members, led by Mr. Le Danh Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance.

When the Department of Finance was preparing to conduct an inspection, on June 11, Dakwaco Company suddenly sent a document to the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City requesting the return of 24 domestic water supply works in the city's wards and communes.

According to this document, from 2001 to 2022, Dakwaco has operated 24 water supply projects invested by the Buon Ma Thuot City Project Management Board. Now the company proposes to transfer these projects to the Management Board according to regulations.

Dak Lak Water Supply Joint Stock Company proposed to supply water to the above projects through the master meter. To ensure uninterrupted water supply to the people, the company requested the Buon Ma Thuot City Project Management Board to develop a plan to install a master meter and organize water supply to the people in the area.

In case the investor does not need to supply water through the main meter, the company proposes to sign a contract to lease the operation of the above works.

Speaking with VietNamNet reporter on the afternoon of June 22, Mr. Vu Van Hung - Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee, confirmed that he had received a document from Dakwaco requesting the return of 24 water supply works.

However, Mr. Hung said: “The proposal to return is the company’s, whether to accept or not is for the professional agencies to consider and decide. Dakwaco is being inspected regarding water sales activities, so suddenly requesting to return projects that have been operating stably is completely unreasonable.”

Mr. Hung emphasized that these are projects invested with state capital, handed over to Dakwaco to operate for several years to nearly 20 years.

“Now the company suddenly returns it like a child’s play. If there were any difficulties or problems during the operation, the company should have reported them to the Provincial People’s Committee for consideration and resolution. All assets have been handed over to the company. Now, if the locality takes them back, there is no unit with the capacity to operate them,” said Mr. Hung.

Mr. Luu Quoc Bao, Director of the Buon Ma Thuot City Project Management Board, also said he was very surprised to receive the document from Dakwaco. He affirmed that the company has operated these projects stably for many years, so the proposal to return them is unreasonable and impossible.

“All 24 projects were fully handed over to the company many years ago for operation and exploitation. We do not have the functions or expertise to receive and operate these water supply projects,” said Mr. Bao.

An official from the Buon Ma Thuot City Project Management Board revealed that Dakwaco’s request to return 24 projects may be aimed at avoiding the need to record an increase in assets when equitizing. Authorities are also inspecting the equitization process at this enterprise.
