Responding to a press conference on April 29, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian confirmed that Chinese President and General Secretary Xi Jinping will visit three European countries – France, Serbia, and Hungary – from May 5-10.
Mr. Lam Kiem stated that bilateral relations with France maintain strong growth momentum, while emphasizing that both countries maintain strategic contact and substantive cooperation.
"China hopes to work with France to further enhance mutual political trust, solidarity, and cooperation," the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized at a press briefing.
In addition, a representative from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that President Xi Jinping will hold talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to exchange views on bilateral relations and discuss upgrading diplomatic ties. President Xi will also hold talks and meetings with Hungarian leaders to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
Regarding US-China relations, at the same press conference, Lin Jian stated, "Non-interference in internal affairs is one of the fundamental principles of Chinese diplomacy. The US presidential election is an internal matter of the United States; China will not interfere in any way and has never been interested in it."
According to Lin Jian, Beijing firmly opposes the exploitation of any rhetoric related to China to undermine its interests for electoral purposes. Lin Jian also urged the U.S. to stop slandering China and to make greater efforts to contribute to the stability of bilateral relations and the interests of the people of both countries.
