On the evening of May 8 (local time), Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the Hungarian capital Budapest, the final stop on his tour to Europe.

TASS news agency quoted Mr. Xi Jinping when arriving in Hungary as saying: "We will make strong and resolute efforts, together build mankind for a common future, contribute to peace, stability, development and prosperity around the world ."
He expressed confidence that, through the concerted efforts of both sides, his visit "will be a complete success and open up a brighter future for China-Hungary relations."
The Chinese leader expressed his desire to bring relations between Beijing and Budapest to a higher level in terms of quality, noting that he saw "vast opportunities" to strengthen bilateral ties with Hungary and looked forward to meeting the country's leadership.
Xi Jinping will visit Hungary from May 8-10 and will hold talks with host President Tamas Sulyok and Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
According to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, the parties are expected to sign at least 16 bilateral agreements during Xi's first visit to the Central European country aspresident . Some of the agreements will be related to the expansion of the Belt and Road Initiative in Hungary.
Hungary's top diplomat called the visit "historic" and stressed that China would be the largest foreign investor in Hungary by 2023.
The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary.
